What burns though is the timing of the uncovering of the Storms rorting. It basically handed the 2010 premiership to the Dragons thereby ending their significant drought. If only the whistleblower came forward in say July 2009 instead of March 2010 or whenever it was, then maybe they would have been stripped of all premiership points and not played 2009 finals and we might have won it all.... Dragons received the only real tangible benefit from the Storm being caught

Oh well....

Yes that shits me. If only they were found out 12 months earlier.

Dragons would still be waiting and had a longer drought then us.

I cant see the Dragons winning a comp in the next decade. They are slowly becoming the wests tigers.

My dad was pissed off after the 2009 GF like all of us but his first comment on the bus going home after the game was how the hell are Melbourne under the salary cap with the side they had. They had like 8 or 9 origin players on top off a few internationals.

Well they weren't as was found out 6 months later.

There are rumours Daaaaaaaaaaave knew half way through 09 but did nothing, it wasn’t until they tried to sign Mason in 2010 that people seriously started to ask questions. Sadly we’ll never know. The whole team should of been broken up because they just continued to profit from the cheating for years to come.

Anyone have access to a couple of Eels articles in the SMH? Looks like they finally cracked down on the 12ft.io paywall bypass.

one is by Andrew Johns “If Eels beat Melbourne, they will make the grand final” and the other article is “The equation changes…”

They should have been forced to return their rings as well. The only think they removed is in the history books which Melbourne dont give a toss about.

The fact Melbourne still celebrate the premierships and did a 10 year reunion the other year is a disgrace.

That was their fourth straight grand final too. That should’ve been the first sign that the salary cap didn’t really apply at that club.

The NRL dont want to know about it. They just turn a blind eye because they are shit scared what they would find.

Teams that have been caught been dobbed in by a whistleblower never been caught red-handed by the NRL.

Good article about the importance of motivation, and explaining a theory for why we have good records against Panthers and Storm but f**ked up against Wests and Bulldogs earlier on.

And it reads like there can be a role for the coach/staff in (better) addressing such motivation, not just blaming it on players...
"One to 17 is on fire."

No It's 1-16. The 17th barely gets used, he's frozen solid.

Does anyone still think the Sharks got off lightly with their peptide scandal and is that wose then salary cap.

They won the comp 2 years later after players pleading guilty to being drug cheats.

Didn't the NRL find that the Sharks breached the cap in 2014, 2015, 2017 & 2018 but NOT 2016 when they won their first comp ?
