We missed the finals last year I suspect if we had made it and gone deep.

There would be barely any noise.

We're 18 months & 29 games post a GF appearance and trending backwards.

I think the club got lucky last year they didn't cop more heat for missing the finals even with the shithouse reasons/excuses that happened.

I hate it when were copping it but we probably need a rocket up the joint tbh too many people around the club from players to coaches and admin are still living/coasting off the GF appearance.

If we don't win a game before the Bye it's almost curtains for finals this year. And we would only have just reached Anzac Day.
I can see us going on a run and needing to beat the tigers in the last round to make it. Imagine the excitement that would bring!

I’m really liking the Talking Parra podcast. It’s like a live version of this forum. I highly recommend it.

Didn’t realise after 5 games that we are in exactly the same position as last season.
You should have read my post from last night. Do you want a link to it?

It is round 5.

Still plenty of footy to be played. Given we have lost our most important player early, we are not going too badly.

The luck will swing through out the season, positively and negatively - it is on us to capitalise as best we can.

Other clubs will also have significant injuries and suspensions no doubt.

If we can jag a few wins before Moses gets back and maybe get Lomax early, all of a sudden we are looking great for a big back end of the season.

Things can change in an instant.

We won’t be winning anything. We are now paying $3.50 just to make the 8. And when the inevitable happens I’m hoping our CEO who cops plenty of flack calls time on MON, Arthur and his assistants. I fear however it will be masked with a new assistant coach and some astute signings that should have happened 2 years ago.
I’ve heard things about Sarantinos and I’m torn on which way I lean with him. He’s very very savvy but yes he can operate too methodically. That means we’re less likely to make mistakes, but a lot less inclined to take risk. That’s not always the best option in any business but especially not in a business where there’s a big non-financial, barely operational goal of winning a premiership.
I think this type of thinking has pervaded our entire club too. It generally feels like we’re just being safe and waiting for everyone else to make a mistake. This is definitely how I feel about MON.
I feel we should hire Bennett regardless of BA. If BA wants to stick around next year and learn from Bennett, great. If he doesn’t, then Bennett can bring with him a Barrett, Morris or Burgess to understudy.

However from what I’ve heard, I reckon Sarantinos would be leaning towards Bennett being the only viable alternative (maybe Barrett a distant 3rd option). Unless Arthur quits, the chances of us hiring anyone else is very slim. But then I also think we’d enter a new phase in the playing group and potentially be stronger again, but then that’s looking another 3-5 years down track

I agree with a lot of this post but would Sarantinos have any say who the club hire’s?? Surely the board has final say?? and if they don’t they be resigning ASAP.

Yeah they sounded like some guys on here!

Some of their information was off though...

Have you ever worked in a company with board structure before?
Sarantinos would be the one doing work. The board would help him out and certainly discuss options but if a board is ever overruling a CEO then it’s not a functional relationship.

Yep basically the CEO is doing day to day work then goes to the board every month and says look at these numbers how great am I!

So one dude has final say?? What RL knowledge does he have to make a decision like that?? Sure he works with and helps the board but surely he answers to them??

And I have no experience at all about boards which is why I asked the question.

They do a better job at calling out the Club than TCT guys.. Reading the comments each time someone calls our MON they ignored that post...
