With Jamie Lyon as Assistant ?Slater would be my choice he could get some decent staff around him...
I don't think you can force assistant coaches on someone. If you're doing that the situation is far from optimal and probably untenable. Especially if that coach you're forcing them on is wary of assistants that might threaten him, as has been suggested. But even if that wasn't the case I don't see it working.I suspect our unaccountable board won't have the balls to sack the coach with two years to go, but I don't think the Knights will have the same problem once the season is over.
I'd be punting Murphy and bringing in Adam O'Brien as an assistant. At least you know he is someone that BA would at least trust to some respect.
I'd also be looking at someone else as an assistant. Maybe Jim Dymock.
Yeah, I agree totally, and the people I mentioned is probably around here's some options for us.I don't think you can force assistant coaches on someone. The easier decision is to sack the coach, not keep him.I suspect our unaccountable board won't have the balls to sack the coach with two years to go, but I don't think the Knights will have the same problem once the season is over.

Does anyone with any knowledge actually know whether this is true or is this just something that some plonker on here made up and everyone else ran with?Especially if that coach you're forcing them on is wary of assistants that might threaten him, as has been suggested.
I agree, but I also can't see the board doing that if they have to pay him out a significant sum of money. That won't be an easy decision. The easier decision is to sack the coach, not keep him.
I don’t think money is the issue. I just don’t think they see it in the same way that people on here do. In fact, I reckon most league fans wouldn’t.I agree, but I also can't see the board doing that if they have to pay him out a significant sum of money. That won't be an easy decision.
If it's not true then i think we would be the only club that doesn't let the head coach choose his own assistants.Does anyone with any knowledge actually know whether this is true or is this just something that some plonker on here made up and everyone else ran with?
