Ryles could be awesome being with the Storm system for so long. On the other hand, in the NFL Bill Bellichicks assistants never achieved anything in the NFL. Could be the same with the Bellamy NRL coaching tree. Club bosses thought they hit the jackpot when they landed Kearney.

Hannay did OK as caretaker coach of the sharks so wouldn't mind if we ended up with him either.
Holbrook would get our attack going, would need good assistant coaches to get the defence right.

Anyone else and we might as well have kept BA.

Cheika would be my pick. Not that that means anything. LOL

Appointing Cheika would invoke so much curiosity and intrigue in our fortunes. It'd be so interesting to see what he might do with an NRL team.... Whereas if we appointed Madge, you kinda already know what to expect.

Like a few others here, Cheika or Hannay would bring new life to the team I reckon and at least get us doing something different.

Cheika not having coached much rugby league means nothing - it's not as though he was a tennis coach, who we are looking at to be a rugby league coach.

Reckon Cheika, wouId end in huge disappointment. Yeah he is probably a good man manager....but coaching an international league side with zero expectations along with no league experience isn't a great resume!

Union is a lot different to league....

Just don't see him capable of being a day to day NRL coach....

The bulk of Andy Farrell's playing career was in league but has since made a pretty good fist of union coaching.... Could Cheika do something similar but just the other way around??

At the end of the day, nobody can be 100% sure either way. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.... I dunno. I just think after 38 years and more recently with BA in charge for 11 years, I'd be really interested to see what he might be able to do

I’m unsure how good Cheika would be honestly. But one thing is for sure, it’d be a huge rugby league story for his journey!

I posted a comment before that the key for Cheika is going to be the calibre of his key assistants.

If he can bring some assiatant coaches with some tactical experience and attention to detail, areas that we're clearly already lacking, then I think he'd go OK.

I know he had Matt King at Lebanon, he might be keen to work with him again. I'll be interested to see where JD ends up as an assistant now.

We know that he has already employed a league man in Kidwell as one of his defensive coaches in union so it speaks volumes in the fact that he looks beyond the norm... Much like John Muggleton was has carved out a career as a union defensive specialist coach....
