Under Brian Smith, we always looked the complete footy team.

Under Brian Smith, we regularly made Finals footy.

Under Brian Smith, we jagged high-quality big-names, such as Glenn Morrison, Timana Tahu, Jim Dymock....

Under Brian Smith, we developed quality juniors into world-calibre players - Nathan Hindmarsh, Jamie Lyon...hell, even Moodie, and Hodgson, played for NSW, and Vaealiki was a regular for New Zealand.

His only weakness was not being able to get the side mentally prepared for a Grand Final - something which has haunted him for years.

Bring him home - let him finish his story.

Hannay to Eels until Payton or Walters are punted.
Ryles to Eels until Bellamy decides to leave Melb.
Take your pick.
Missing a huge opportunity if its not Holbrook. Add Smithy in a Gus like role and watch us go.

The talk/rumour amongst some in the media is that Hannay will be announced but only as a 1 year deal.

If that’s the case, anyone involved in the decision should be pushed off the leagues club roof, as we won’t sign or re-sign a single player
I can't see either a coach taking the gig on for one year, or the club even just offering it for one year.

The only exception I can see to that is if they decide to keep Barrett on and go for someone else in 2026.

To be honest I wouldn't put a decision like that past these incompetent muppets though.

Under Brian Smith we ended each finals campaign with an almighty choke
