Ram, I can see where you are coming from totally.

I believed Tony would be in line for the CEO job once 3P won, As soon as 3P announced their Leagues Club ticket, Why? Because I was told it would happen from one of their candidates. I had no real problem with that, Indeed I have know Tony for a number of years and spoken to him at length on many club issues that I have then been asked to bring to this forum.

I remember sitting with Tony before a Saturday night game about 2 or so years ago when the Past Players function was on at the Leagues Club, that was the year the player numbers were instituted, many of our past players came and sat with Tony and myself and had a chat, one of them is a board member at the LC and FC now but wasn't at the time. Tony has great contacts through the club and for his efforts at Parramatta I thank and praise him.

However, if Tony were to become CEO of the Football club now, I think you would find that the amount of stitch we have received today would be nothing compared to the Holly sh*t storm that would be rained down on us for weeks on end. I agree that while the Chairman's comments may indeed have been sticking up for a mate and offering an olive branch, I think doing so publicly is a faux par.

I agree with Colonel, get a Head Hunting Company involved and get them to get the candidates then get the Board to Interview them.

Spot on Mark...hey we totally agree on all points on something for once. Yeah!!! :D

If you want a female CEO in particular, I rate one certain lady very very highly. Lyn is very highly rated in business and covers an extremely large area of specialisations. She would do the club proud and I'm sure she wouldn't let anyone down. Champ.

Cool Colin, but again I still believe that we should be putting the process of choosing a CEO into the hands of a independent agency, and if Lyn feels she has what it takes and the desire is there, then by all means she should have a go. Let the best man or women win.

the irony there is that if Lyn does apply and gets the job than she'll have to relinquish her role as a director which would open the door for Rob Sasson or Joe Saad.

btw, I'm a big Lyn Wallace fan, she's a fantastic communicator.

I agree 100%. I think there would be a lot of talented individuals out there, not just from the sporting realms. The net needs to be thrown far to catch the most fish.

Here's to hoping that Parra have a massive net. There would be nothing better then to see Parra catch a couple of whales so to speak.

I can't believe we are even considering giving him the job, guilty or innocent he is just bad news ATM. Bad news a club like ours doesn't need.

I undestand that both vacancies have to be advertised, and who knows who will apply, the new board will have to ensure due diligence is done etc. Hopefully not the prior experience of "you will approve what I decide".

Did anyone else notice that Trish Crews said at the Women in League lunch that Zappia was very supportive and a quality co worker, likewise Kay Fitzhenry who said working alongside Zappia for 25 years and had never seen any sort of bad behaviour.

Then in the papers today, apparently a blow up when Ryan Tandy was offered to the Sharks which involved the lady, Stuart and Zappia and some comment made about the player which she believed that Zappia had made public. The staff at Sharks said that from that time she accused him of all sorts of things . A caller to Talkin Sport said that at the latest clear the air meeting at Cronulla , the female staff at the Sharks said they would take TZ back at any time, and that the reported female is the only one to have ever said anything bad about Tony.

Look , I think he handled the issue very poorly by probably trying to push it aside to keep any pressure off the club at a time when they were under the pump, those things do come back to bite you. I will put my hand up and say I have known Zappia for over 20 years and believe he is a very genuine bloke.

All I will say, is don't hang him too quickly, as I have concerns at the way Magnay pushed this through. Anyway, just wanted to post what I have heard over the last couple of days.

Yesterday, a contrite Zappia, who left the Sharks with four weeks' pay and some bonuses, gave a brief statement after meeting Gallop for half an hour in which he apologised to Hall. Zappia acknowledged his errors in human-resources issues as he seeks to resurrect his reputation and salvage his league career with a possible position at his old club, Parramatta.

"I'm sorry, and I hope she gets on with her life," Zappia said of Hall.
Cronulla will look to appoint an interim football manager amid a review of the structural organisation of the leagues and football clubs and transition of board chairman Barry Pierce, who will leave at the end of the month.
Zappia, the former Sharks chief executive, resigned on Thursday after listening to tape of a conversation between himself and Hall, recorded several days after the accidental punch that left her with a severely injured eye. In the tape, shown on Channel Seven, Zappia suggests to Hall that her eye was caused by hitting a wall, asks if she should spank him, shows her pornographic photos on his work computer and denies her request for sick leave.

In the months after that punch, Hall filed a sexual harassment complaint, including claims that Zappia had called her a stripper, had made a sexual reference to her about "a handy" and made comments about her bottom being exposed when she bent over. But she was most upset when Zappia left her exposed to threats of physical violence when she was inadvertently caught in the middle of a player negotiation.

At the time, Zappia denied to Hall that he breached any confidence. Yesterday, he said he could have handled things differently.
"I'm not the person that some people have portrayed me to be, but I also accept in hindsight that I could have dealt with things in a different manner," he said. "It's unfortunate the way this incident has been portrayed. There's no point in going over the detail except to say that I've never deliberately hurt anyone, and I wish I'd handled it differently."
Hall left the Sharks with a $20,000 payout, most of it comprising work entitlements.

Gallop said it was pleasing that Zappia accepted his errors and mistakes, and it was a first step in terms of his future in the code.
"I felt the meeting was very productive," said Gallop, who had called for Zappia's resignation immediately after the airing of the tape last Sunday night.

Meanwhile Parramatta board member Brett Kenny says he would be happy for Mr Zappia to take up the vacant CEO position at the Eels.
Mr Zappia has been linked with the Parramatta post after Eels boss Dennis Fitzgerald stepped aside on Tuesday after 30 years in the position.
Kenny says the club will not be rushing into a decision on a replacement for Mr Fitzgerald, but says Mr Zappia is welcome to apply.
"If Tony Zappia wants to apply for the job obviously they would have a look at his CV and if he's the best man for the job then for sure you would certainly appoint him," he said.

Parramatta remain the club most likely to offer Zappia an NRL lifeline given his long association with Eels prior to assuming the Cronulla job.
The Eels are searching for a new CEO to replace departed long-term boss Denis Fitzgerald and board member Brett Kenny said Zappia could be considered for the job, but only if he is totally cleared of wrongdoing in the Sharks fiasco.
"I just think you have to wait and see what the end result is (on Zappia)," Kenny said.
"I would hate to think you make a quick decision on it and you find out later on he wasn't guilty of the so-called crimes he was supposed to have committed.
"If it's found out he was in the wrong then he probably wouldn't apply.
"(But) if he is in a position to be a candidate then we would still go for the best one."
But Zappia is not the only potential new CEO at Parramatta, with the club keeping a close eye on Manly chief executive Grant Mayer's increasingly untenable position at the Sea Eagles.
Mayer is highly respected in the game but is destined to be the fall guy of the power struggle between the warring co-owners at Manly unless Scott Penn can assume total control of the club by the end of the season.
"It would be silly not have a look at his resume. By all reports he is a very good businessman and very good CEO," Kenny said.
