As I have said for the second time in this thread, I was critical of Jarryd when he left for the NFL. More the timing than anything else. However whilst he was with us I never once saw him not being committed both on and off the field. He was our best player, our most marketable player and I would have him back in a heartbeat and swap him for any player in our squad if it came down to that. You think we wouldn't be a better side with him in this one?

Yes, he was committed but at times I question him when the chips were down, also things I've heard about his attitude wise is something I think we are better off without.

Yes, we may be a better team with him in it, but is he gonna be the player he was when he left? What's it been 2-3 years since his played? The money he is gonna command is gonna be top tier stuff, and if it means losing Norman and Foran over it then sorry, it's a flat no from me.

I'll also add like I have stated before, our team in the first 9 rounds of this year is the best we have looked in 10 years for me. BA finally got the team he wanted, had time to move on from Hayne and recruit the required players to get the team playing the way he wanted.

We were defensively awesome, had steel and a strong mental edge and that is no coincidence that it all happened in the year we recruited winners and players such as Foran, Scott and Jennings.

Even Foran not playing at his best had our team organised defensively and in attack, look what it did to Norman, took so much pressure off him, I don't know why I'm even arguing this cause it's clear you won't agree, but long story short, I wouldn't be sacrificing ANYONE to get Hayne back, a top tier prop and a good hooker are far more important for me.

You could be right Djay. Time will tell mate. Just one more thing I don't want Foran to fail just so I can be proven right. I'm not a psycho as some like Bigfella would like to make out. I love our team and want us to win whether it's with Foran or not. It's just a feeling I get with him that it will end in tears. I had the same feeling and created threads with Sandow and Watmough after initially being excited about their signings. I'll be the first to put my hand up if Foran delivers what we bought him for. A premiership.

At the end of the day the reason that makes everything we have endured lately that much more painful is the fact we haven't seen a premiership in 30 years and at the rate were travelling right now it could be a very long time.

Hope I am wrong because I think we were so close to it this year, hopefully everything gets on track next year and the hangover from this year isn't to bad.

It's funny that we play just as well without him, then.

It's also no coincidence that our right edge is defensively weak when Foran doesn't play.

The thing about Foran is that most of the benefits to having him at the club are intangible, and not easy to track with stats. It's more about his influence at the club, what he brings out in others, The turn around in attitude at the club has been incredible, while it's probably more to BA's credit than Forans, he's played a huge role in Improving the attitude of the playing group, while it's not something you can show on paper, it's undeniably important.

That's where the bulk of his value is.

Another difference between Foran and Sandow is that Sandow was never our captain. Never expected to take on the mantle of role model and leader like Foran was. Also, this talk of Sandow's sub-standard defense being his main issue ..... it wasn't.

Yes it was. This is why he polled top 10 in Dally M voting (an award based purely on attacking ability) despite not being worthy of an NRL contract at any club after leaving us.

His main issue was that his attack was way too erratic. He couldn't maintain a game plan. For all the wonderful tries he scored or set up, there were at least as many that he killed by taking the wrong option.

His attack was erratic because it relied on quick play-the-balls to be effective, and quick play-the-balls have been thin on the ground for us (and still are). As for his decision making, plenty of NRL halves are in their teams for their instinctive attacking ability (including both halves at the Bulldogs). You don't need your entire spine to be full of plodding game managers. There is always room for off-the-cuff players as long as they can tackle.

If he was in this side it would be an extra $1M+ over the cap.

I don't like agreeing with any merkin, but I agree with this 100%

It was the first time we've looked like a genuine semi final side and top four chance since about 2007.

Even in 09 we were absolutely rudderless in the halves and needed a miracle run to make the 8

We haven't looked like that with Norman in the side either before or after foran being available.

Some of that impact has come from the addition of Scott and the improvement of players like Edwards mau and some additions - but Foran has been a massive part of that.

And his unavailability has been largely from physical injuries not these "issues".

Can't call him a failure by any means.

This season has been cruelled by the disastrous mismanagement of the club not by any of the recruitment issues, or the attitude or character of any of the players.

I know why Noise and Avenger are blowing up, but even with that in mind I don't think it is right to completely shit on Foran in the way that they have.

Agreed. I think Foran has brought a lot to this side. If he was fit we would give the top 4 a real shake.

Since we're mostly playing nuffies between here and round 26 I'd say the chances are good. Unless we lose a dozen points. Then we're not certainties to scrape the top eight.
