Good onya Ash, another person talking some sense on here :thumn.

With all due respect to Ash, some of the sense he is talking is from a position of ignorance.
The NRL CAN sack the PNRL Board and/or take points away - whatever penalty they choose to impose they can - it is their competition, their licence and their rules. We allegedly have broken those rules so don't be naive as to think the NRL can't demand people resign from NRL accredited roles in the club or we lose points.

Funny to read so many people getting worked up about whether the AGM will be calm or not... in the wider scheme of things, the AGM (and all of the foucs on the shortcomings or otherwise of different Boards or factions) matters a lot less to most fans/members than our team's performance on the field. (The only time our AGM might really matter, is if someone tried to merge us, or tried to buy our club...)

Yes it sucks that we lost in the dying seconds against Penrith, and yes it will suck if we suffer a 4 point deduction, but... it's not the end of the world! As stated earlier in this (or another thread) in the last three years there were 15 teams who have made the semis with 4 points or more to spare, versus only 8 teams in three years that have missed out by 4 points or less. Not the end of the world by any means.

But the drama llamas will whip up a frenzy, thus distracting the club/squad/team from the main job at hand - to keep winning those games.

The members will get their chance to choose again at the next election Stags, just as they always have. No need to artificially force an election before time.

And do the members deserve credit for their past choices? I'm not so sure they do... given their/our past record of choices, electing Spagnolo's cowboys on several occasions .

Several occasions ?? ... If I recall they his faction were elected as many times as the current board..

My general point... and it seems to me to be Ash's as well... is more of a "meh?". What will be will be - if we have points deducted so be it. If the NRL sacks one Board Member, 7 Board Members, one CEO, or 7 staff members... so be it.

It's not the end of the world - we have a winning footy team for the first time in over a decade. Let's support the team, and not be distracted by stuff that doesn't really matter... :D.

Don't worry about it Stagger... we can just let things roll on as they will.

The NRL won't use the power they have to dismiss Board members and senior staff for breaking the Code of Conduct they have in place.
The Board will step down because it is the right thing to do for the club and they have all always put the club first so far.
The Board won't threaten and possibly follow through on legal action against the NRL because now we have professional politicians on the Board they never look to protect their reputation through whatever means possible.

We will get a slap on the wrist from the NRL, pay a fine, loose 4 points (sic) and everything will be sweet. The AGM will be nice and calm because it's only 4 points and who really cares about 4 points. In the overall scheme of things, this Board have done heaps of good things so we should leave them all where they are and just let BA and the team earn back any points lost.

Afterall, it has been a witch hunt by Spags and Denis and there is no truth to it. Our Board are squeaky clean and have done nothing wrong so we shouldn't punish them at all.

Yep that's pretty much the chorus.

so if we do lose the 4 points you really think they deserve to stay on???

OMG you have the brain of a gold fish.

What I want is long term stability. If that means without the current crew, then I'm all for it.

BUT I'm not going to tear down the walls if it lets the zombies in.

We need a carefully considered plan. Not knee jerk reactions.

And... I was talking about choices that count against our credit. Electing the current Board has been far from a mistake - look at the competition ladder, the quality of teh footy we're playing, and the quality of the overall squad.

Who would bother getting caught up in the microscopic "drama" when there is so much to be positive about?

How did the loss of points become the deciding factor in whether or not the board stays or goes? Surely whether they stay or not should depend on what they've done. Or not done. Or whatever. Carry on.

I suppose that's the perfect response to a bad situation but would it stop a 'no confidence' motion at the next agm?
No, beacuse Fitzy and Spagnolo seem to have pulled the strings of our weaker minded members perfectly.... case in point, this thread!

Maybe Sharpy should get Bart to talk to all the members at the next AGM, i'm sure his "losing 4 points is no big deal" speech will go down a treat
Actually, Danno has summed it up better than either I or Sharpy probably could:
If we lose points, then I expect Sharp to have the balls to say:

"we accept the punishment and will move forward, and we call upon the NRL to maintain the rage and investigate the third party arrangements at ALL CLUBS. In the spirit of sportsmanship, it is only fair that the investigative process we were put through now be applied to all clubs. Transparency is needed if we are to move forward with respect to Third Party payments."
Fixing the vagaries of the TPA system that resulted in this allegedly technical minor breach is the real issue here.

Meanwhile people (unwittingly or otherwise) under the influence of the media, social media, and the former warlords (still) circling our club, have their pitchforks and drama antennas ready for action .

Because, as Forest Gump used to say... simple is as simple does?

I think the posts of certain people in this thread are evidence enough of that already - wittingly or unwittingly.

Stop reading the papers, stop getting in a fuss about social media, stop whipping up hysteria on a forum, stop worrying what other people/fans of other teams might say to you.... and simply enjoy the good form of your team, and the success of your club. :D

Or agitate for/get caught up in the drama of a no confidence motion at the relatively unimportant AGM, if you prefer? ;-)

That statement is a total insult to the head coach his staff and the players in the squad... In fact You might as well give tom Issa 3 points for his effort against Penrith on the weekend...

Yeah, pretty much, however if the the result of what they have or haven't done is a loss of points............well, results do matter.

 that's one of his best
So no-one calling for the board to be sacked etc has been effected one bit by the constant stream of media articles/coverage inspired by leaks (both accurate/minor and inaccurate) and the agendas of the vested interests over the past six to nine months...? :sarcasm:

Ok then, carry on .

I'm still very keen to catch up with Bart for that beer.
I might even surprise him when I do.
It will happen.
