Latest RUMOUR is NRL will strip Parramatta of 28 points if board doesn't step down within 48hours ... Guess we 'll know if true in 2 days.

What if I tweeted:

"Latest Rumor says @bombsAwayLane arrested on multiple counts of child abduction and rape"

Equally false, and unfounded, but I have no obligation to back that up with any facts at all, although damaging to say the least.

Media today is around betting refunds. Anyone stupid enough to bet on Parra being successful deserves to do their arse.

Pretty clear that they are trying to represent a community expectation that anything less that zero points for 2016 would be unexceptable.

Yet another example of the media trying to influence an outcome in news rather than just reporting the news old school.

+1 on this.

It seems common practice for media these days is to try and create or influence events rather than reporting on them. By their own actions they are making their own medium irrelevant.

Exactly, it is a nothing story, the bookies/TAB will just count the cash and hope we are disqualified. All in betting is all in.

If the media narrative has now shifted right away from the largely technical and minor salary cap/TPA issues, over to code of conduct concerns about not reporting Seward to the NRL... is that a sign that a points deduction is less likely to be on the cards?

If all the NRL investigation can find is a failure of one/someclub adminsitrators to report a fellow adminstrator when they' given him the sack... then surely that's now just a fine and changes to governance/administration personnel as penalty, rather than any on field penalty/points deduction?

Said it a couple of times, seems the media/nrl is clutching at straws.

As if they didn't know why SS was punted. The hoppa and Foran sagas and go knows what else were the reasons.

The code of conduct thing is not about failing to report Seward to the NRL. It is about failing to report breaches or possible breaches of the cap to the NRL. Seward just happens to be the bloke they are pointing the finger at as being responsible or partly responsible for some of the alleged behaviour. The two issues are inextricably linked.

Why is it taking so long?
The longer it goes the less id say the punishment will be.Obviously it is not clear cut.

That's my feelings, storm in a teacup media trying to make something of nothing.

I have a feeling that 99% of what the media are crying about already came to light with the NRL in the first investigation, but the media didn't know about the scope of the investigation (Oh no! how dare the NRL not tell them about all the inner workings of an offical NRl investigation). So there really isn't anything new that the NRL didn't already know about.

Parramatta Rams! Much more marketable....

To right. Would be sensational and the most fitting moniker Parra could ever have. Parra's history and all.

Rams was the Emporer's preferred name back in the early naughties

I think you'll find it was the great Jack Gibson's. The Emperor always came way late to the party, you know, when all the chicks are gone, leaving him the only option of holding his own dick.

So when he finally came around to the idea, years later, and publicly stated that there weren't many options or opportunities for marketing an Eel to the general public and particularly the kiddies, he said the birdie had probably flown because it would be very difficult to get the members to agree to the name change. Whereas when Jack was there they would have agreed to anything and also given him the keys to the city.

Once again showing his great talent in running our club with intuitive vision and business smarts leadership.

So many missed opportunities this great club. So many.

This might be one of your best ever posts?

But good point, and haven't we already been through the audit, submitted ourselves to their recommendations, and paid a fine?

What is new since then? We already sacked Seward and renegotiated contracts...

To my way of thinking, if our club were the salary cap cheats we are being painted as, why didnt we "make sure" Junior Paulo remained an Eel?
I honestly do not believe any of the hysteria regardless of where its coming from.
Get rid of the scum leaking and spreading lies and let our great team do their stuff.
Go The Mighty Eels.

Eels is fine. It differentiates us from the procession of repetitive and overused bullshit Americanised names and is a definite talking point. Two things that are critical to any successful marketing.

The fact that our club has been shit at marketing has nothing to do with our name.

The world does not need another team called the Rams.
