Not sure how correct this is and could be bullshit. But just read a tweet suggesting Four corners may be doing a show/report/investigating on us.

Would be interesting if true.

I've been waiting for Four Corner to get onto it. Interesting to see what angle they take.

If four corners does do a report, I doubt it would be just "eel bashing", it probably would look at us, then relate in back to all the clubs in the NRL and the systemic rotting of the cap across all clubs. Probably relating too some of the stuff Kate has been writing about a few months ago but has gone quiet on ( could make sense why she hasnt written anything else about it)

The eels wouldn't be a big enough matter for four corners, but the NRL as a whole would be.

Yeah, surely the eels alone as a story is pretty much exhausted, but league-wide salary cap rorting is yet to be exposed properly. I won't be holding my breath though. We're just not that lucky.

Parramatta's salary cap saga is finally close to an end, with the Eels and NRL finalising talks to ensure the club doesn't appeal their punishment for breaches.

Three months after the NRL announced it would dock the Eels 12 competition points for rorting the cap, the club is set to officially accept the sanctions, possibly this week.

With new administrator Max Donnelly now in charge of the club, the two parties have been locked in negotiations that at one point threatened to lead to the Supreme Court.

However it is understood the governing body is now considering suspending part of the original $1 million fine, ensuring that the seemingly never-ending drama doesn't overshadow the run into the finals series.

"We are talking to the Eels in regards to governance reforms," an NRL spokesperson told AAP on Tuesday.

"That may involve a suspension of part of the fine but nothing has been determined yet. We need to work out the reforms required in consultation with the administrator."

Former captain Nathan Cayless said it was a fresh start for everyone involved in the club and praised the players for not letting off-field problems affect their results on-field.

The Eels have so far won 10 of their 19 games despite being without key men Kieran Foran, Corey Norman and Tim Mannah for extended periods throughout the season.

"There's been a few times where we thought there was a clean slate, so we just have to wait and see because there's still a lot of work to be done behind the scenes," he said.

"But having said that, it's a good fresh start for everyone.

"We need to move forward. The players, the way they've handled everything, it's about looking after what they can control - how they play. It's made everyone proud at the club."

NRL bullying us into keeping quiet.
Plenty of stuff out there that would implicate their main man and probably other clubs too I'm guessing.
f**ken scumbags.

If max is serious about sorting out the eels, he better get on the phone with Greenberg and demand clarification on our cap. The NRL is playing us like a puppet. If we don't get on the front foot, we'll turn into a 'yes' club.

I wouldn't even discount an appeal on the whole saga, just to f**k them over right before the finals.

Huh... Did you bump this post from four months ago?

The window for timewasting appeals is over - the time for sorting our shit out for 2017 is well and truly underway!

I still think we should appeal.

Anyone who thinks Greenburg didn't screw us has been pulling their bean for a good few years.

It may actually be possible to think that Greenburg is an unhelpful merkin but also be of the view that an appeal is counter productive.

Anyone who doesn't recognise this has been pulling their bean for at least 1000 years.

Yep, we were never going to win the appeal. All it has done is cost the club more money and prolong this saga even further. And it definately helped losing us any chance of signing Hayne.

I know the NRL's behaviour in all this has stinked to high heaven but it should of been what was best for the club moving forward and not the f**kwit 5 or the rest of the board of plonkers.

It may actually be possible to think that an appeal won't make the situation worse, yet might highlight a bunch of dodgy shit that merkins did to screw us over.

Anyone who doesn't recognise this has been pulling their bean for over 10,000 years.

Would be a big story if it was the Eels

Keary not teary over split
Few people have any idea how close Luke Keary came to withdrawing from South Sydney's team last weekend; in protest over $70,000 worth of unpaid third party deals.

The background to the story is every bit as instructive as to why he has fallen out of love with the Rabbitohs as his infamous pre-season row with Russell Crowe.

In short, Keary did the right thing by the club 18 months ago. He agreed to sacrifice a guaranteed marquee deal so a team mate could be retained. In exchange he was promised that Souths would make "best endeavours" to find him a third party deal of equal value. That still hasn't happened and Keary has understandably grown more frustrated.

Tension reached boiling point following a meeting with Richardson last week, where Keary was told the deal has still not been struck.

He was ready to clear out his locker and stand down then and there. Loyalty to his team mates forced a change of heart.

In the most bitter twist of irony, the Roosters-bound playmaker suffered a torn hamstring just five minutes into the Raiders game that will most likely spell the end of his playing days at Redfern. The injury hasn't done Keary's cause to recoup the money any favours.

When it comes to players who are owed money, he's now at the end of the queue being injured and signed elsewhere for 2017. And make no mistake, there are others in the same boat.

Seven News revealed Sam Burgess is also awaiting payments. There's no suggestion Burgess is upset - we're told the delay has more to do with administrative issues in processing the payments, rather than sourcing them.
