So why is that then?
So why is that then?
That may be an issue with Schubert but doesn't mean you should ban all former players from such roles. You know a fellow called J. Grant played for Australia once upon a time. Although now you seem to be suggesting that former players can actually get a job in the game if they have "good credentials". Well, good credentials miught actually include knowing something about the game.Isn't it obvious? If you were looking for a marketing manager or an executive of development, would you really prioritize former players or those who are actually qualified for the role?
Schubert has overseen two systematic successful attempts at cheating the salary cap, and the current Folau situation is a farce - it could have all been avoided if he didn't pipe in with what he thinks Folau should be paid.
If the former player actually has good credentials, then yes, why not? But at the expense of an individual with a much better resume?
Schubert's record is even worse given the inconsistency with how he has handled different situations.

THE NRL will block a radical Parramatta attempt to sign Israel Folau by breaking the club's salary cap next season and South Sydney could be waiting to pounce.
Huge chunks of Hindmarsh and Burt wouldn't have been counted as part of the cap because they were one club players.Seriously. How the f**k can teh Eels be anywhere near the cap?
They don't have 13 NRL standard players.
Serves them right for letting arse clowns like Osborne near the joint. Poore, Hindmarsh & Burt are all gone from last year and they are still at the cap.
What.
The.
Fugg????????????????????????????????
In what part of the post did I say all former players don't deserve a role? QUOTE]
Right here.I think ex-players should not be placed in high positions.
Thanks Eels for being incompetent cap managers. You talked him into coming back to the NRL but word is he's going to be a Rabbitoh:

As for their cap problems.
Sandow and Hopoate are on way way way way overs.
bahahaha, if Souths gets Izzy that'll do me.
This game is becoming an absolute joke.
It is ridiculous and inconsistent. Rabbitohs faced the same thing with Inglis, even though no mention of notional value had occurred while he was on his way to the BroncosI'm curious, if we have to pay "market value" for Israel Folau, does every club have to do the same for all of their players?
If not, why is it just Folau and 'star' players? How do they determine who is a 'star' player, and how do they determine their value?
If true, seriously, how can the top teams be under the cap given the rosters they have?
Hence, this 'market value' thing is ridiculous.
It seems that the SMH reporting of Folau's contract at the Broncos isn't in alignment with what was reported at the time. The smh have him earning less than $400k with the Broncos:
"That said, Schubert's refusal to lower his valuation of Folau has perplexed many at the Eels, and some outside the club. When Folau left the game at the end of 2010, as a Test and Origin star, he was not being paid $400,000 by the Broncos. Yet after two years out of the game, and more of an unknown than he was when he left, he has been valued alongside some of the star players in the game."
As it says, how can a guy 2 years out of the game be valued more than he was then? Ridiculous imo

The fact it all comes down to the discretion of Schubert is ridiculous. I can't believe he wasn't one of the first people sacked under the new management

why would it be a joke? Cause your management has locked your cap up with shitty players?
Is its established that its just at "one guy's discretion" or is that just speculation? Serious question?
Id be pretty upset if I was a Rabbits fan and the Eels got a free pass with this after you guys had to go through due process to sign GI.
So should the Raiders be entitled to go over the cap by a few hundred thousand because Terry Campese has hardly played a game in the last two years? There's a difference between Folau and Inglis though, one of them hasn't played in two years.
