Gotta admit, I had more confidence before I saw the team.

Sometimes young players bring in enthusiasm and the older players can thrive off that. So long as out 1,6,7 and 9 stay consistant, we will compete. But im not holding my breath.

I think thats the worst team since 03 or 04.

Etu goes ok. Can score a try. Suspect in defence but what winger isn't? Good to see Morgan get a go, excited to see how he goes. Surprised not to see Hicks there tbh.

Just went thrpugh the NRL teams posted up on LU.

Not happy to suggest that our line up looks like in the bottom 3 or 4 teams, and not very competitve when lined up against the top 4 or 5. A real lot of work needs to be done, loooks like 2003/2004 is far from a distant memory

...its a bad side and it shows that we havent spent to the caps capacity (thanks to anderson)

I don't think anyone's to blame.

The club bought the players that were available (and that we wanted) and with plenty of 1-year contracts we're well placed for signing some quality for 2012.

Could we have kept Mateo and Inu around for another year to at least make sure we spent the cap? No we couldn't.

Why would players in their mid-20s sign a one-year contract, unless it was with the Wallabies in a World Cup year?

I reckon less people would be complaining if the Wenty 3 and 4 were running out as the NRL 3 and 4.

Why stop there? If I were him I would retire and become a bus driver, based on being snubbed for round 1. Surely a decent 10 minutes in a mickey mouse game sures up a starting spot.

If only u understood!!

1. I like the team.

2. Where did our sh*t-hot back-line on paper get us in 2010? A back-line of Hayne, Burt, Reddy, Tahu, Grothe is strong. But where did we finish, again?

3. I like the team.

4. I'd only make one change - Benny to start, Taniela off the bench. Benny can soak up the defensive pressure and Taniela can bring some spark off the bench.

5. I like the team.

Eele's tip (and I am talking out of my arse): Walker will not play. Jacob Loko to make his debut and actually mark up against The Beast.

Anyone on suicide watch?

I think Muzza is right, plenty of mind games going on here.
No Fats????
Will Fui come in???

Tip: Jarryd Hayne, Mortimer & Robson to play well.
10/10 for Eels pack.
Eels to win by 1 in a grinding game.

well you've goosed yourself on a number of quotes there, for a start Fats played a trial game whilst Hicks didn't and yet you claim that we shouldn't field fats because he's not match fit? but Hicks should be there?? wtf??

maybe you should judge on who parra can attact at the club when we have a coach who's been there long enough to build a squad himself, i understand that there's alot of players out there who would love to play under Kearney and it will be proven this year...maybe you should wait and see what happens when we finish building a squad for next year to prove that.

you're only as good as the bloke who pulls the strings and waves the wand.

I honestly won't be surprised if Fats starts ahead of Walker.

It's one selection I don't understand without knowing the ulterior circumstances; Fats' best attribute is his defence, something which Walker struggles with.

So Kearney has rewarded those who really put it in during the pre-season, how dare he! :sarcasm:

Bit hard for us forumites to say who should and who shouldn't be in the team, not sure about you but I haven't been there for every training session to judge who has but the effort in and deserves a spot. It's better to try the younger kids now at the start of the season and then the spot is theirs to lose, and if they happen to lose their spot we can be confident that the veteran players can and will fill the spot nicely. I'd rather that situation rather than trying to blood a young kid later in the season.

If only u understood!!

I understand that hard work and perseverance usually work better than chopping and changing.
I also understand that the coach is in a better position to make judgements on selection than myself.

I am unsure what you are alluding to, but I will guess it is f**kall.
