Do you honestly believe that the board/CEO of our club can`t make a mistake? Or do you just enjoy taking a position and arguing it to the bitter end no matter what?

Of course they can make a mistake. What's possible isn't in dispute here (I hope).

What's in dispute is what is most likely, and the board collectively acting in a petty, vindictive manner is less likely than the possibility that they made a well considered decision.

Let's turn your question around - do you honestly believe that the board/CEO of our club can't make a good decision?

After how many years of coaching?

Suity

Not only that, but if you look at the statistics for grand final winners and losers this century there is a striking lack of overlap between the two groups.

Winners
Bennett x 3
Hasler x 2
Bellamy x 2 (stripped)
Hagan
Stuart
Lang
Folkes
Sheens

Losers
Murray x 2
Smith x 2
Anderson x 2
Stuart x 2
Bellamy x 2 (umm, stripped?)
Hasler
Cleary

So even though Hasler, Bellamy and Stuart both won and lost grand finals in that period, there are another four blokes who appeared in multiple grand finals but had the same result in each of them; Bennett who won all three of his, and Murray, Smith and Anderson who lost all of theirs.

Statistically that is very significant - four coaches out of seven to have appeared in multiple grand finals in a sample period, had either all wins or all losses in that period.

It lends some credence to the idea that some blokes just can't win the big game, while others (one actually) just can't lose.

There are other factors of course - Bennett has only ever coached at clubs who enjoy sustained minor success (i.e. regularly make the finals) while Murray, Smith and Anderson have only ever coached at yo-yo clubs. Interestingly, the three coaches to have both won and lost grand finals this century also all coached at clubs that had sustained minor success (in Stuart's case only with the Roosters).

He was either sacked for interpersonal issues or lack of knowledge. I've just demonstrated why it couldn't have been lack of knowledge; deduction tells us the rest.

But if you've got any evidence for why your bullshit conspiracy theory is more likely than the above, either put up or shut up.

You don`t think Anderson might have been sacked because of the results he achieved in 2010? Or because of his blind persistence in selecting Daniel Mortimer when he clearly wasn`t performing?
And on the subject of conspiracy theories - a 'soft culture' that has been with the club for years and now has as it`s last remnants, Luke Burt, Nathan Hindmarsh, Fui Fui Moi Moi and Jarryd Hayne? Okay, Luke Burt isn`t the toughest guy in the world, but you think these four players influence our side to be 'soft'? Really?:lol:

Fui is starting apparantly.
Sandow off the bench.
So the team sheets say anyway.

Source: Just heard it on Triple M

Fui at halfback, with Sandow coming off the bench as a prop? Innovative strategy from SK.

No. There was nothing wrong with our results in 2010; we finsihed 12th after finishing 8th the previous year. That's nothing anyone would be alarmed about.

Or because of his blind persistence in selecting Daniel Mortimer when he clearly wasn`t performing?

No I don't. Mortimer had shown some ability, and it's not like we had anyone better to replace him. If a guy has ability and falls into some poor form it's usually best to stick with them. That's what all the good coaches do.

In hindsight the only ability Daniel Mortimer has is determination, but there's certainly a time and place for that, as we saw in 2009. A high risk gameplan needs guys who can support all day. Conversely, a low-risk 'structured' gameplan needs big, fast merkins to win the physical contest and that's where Mortimer gets left out.

Not soft mate; mentally weak. There's a difference.

No no no. I`m not saying or thinking that at all. I personally would have liked Anderson to see out his contract, but I think the board sacked him because his on-field results in 2010 were not good - because the way the team was playing early in 2009 and a large part of 2010 was very poor; and because he doggedly persisted with Daniel Mortimer in the face of very poor performances (and may well have totally ruined Mortimer`s confidence, who knows?) Then, on top of that, Anderson reportedly asked for an extension, which was denied. Now he was a dead-man walking and so the board decided to terminate his contract early. No conspiracies there. No problem. The question I`m asking you is: do you think the board may have made a mistake in selecting Stephen Kearney as Anderson`s replacement?
I know you`ve said that you don`t think 18 months is long enough to tell, but doesn`t a record of 7 wins from 32 games send you at least some warning bells? Now, the guy might have some plans for the future and structures and all of that, but in terms of his ability to get the most from the players he has; his ability to formulate game-plans and tactics; and, hell, even his ability to get the team to win games, do you think he`s the right man for the job?

Who knows? I wonder if you, me, Suitman, bartman, True Eel, Casper, and Maroubra Eel could sit down around a table and come to a joint and correct decision.

Just goes to show what a tough gig NRL coaching is.
It wasn't that many weeks ago, we were demanding a tough, fast wide running backrower. Fui was the answer for a week or two.
Now he's back to where he was before.

Suity

I'd say he's well compensated for this 'tough gig' though.

Fair enough, but I disagree with you on all three points.

Well, you could probably come to a joint - but I don`t know how many correct decisions would be made.
