Eels to sack Johns

i would like to think he would come to some compromise too but its his choice

Yeah it is his choice, but if that's his choice I still don't think that should affect Johns' role as a halves coach at Parramatta. Even if things aren't sorted between them they should still both be professional enough to work in the same organisation. It's not like his coaching role has much to do with Tahu anyway.

The Problem with a mediation sort of thing is that is what you do for long term fully employeed people, but I don't know Suity, if a contractor of yours offended an employee of yours on a site, or even better offended your employee at a work related conference, would you consider terminating the contract?

Also remember that Ozzy's job is to cut the financial fat from the Football operations side of things, and mediation could be more expensive that paying out what ever penalties are in John's contract with the club.

There is a great deal to be thought about in this matter and we don't know all the facts.

No. My first choice of action would be to mediate between the two parties as I have stated clearly in this situation, and if they were representatives of my business, I'd make it very clear that that sort of opinion is not only unwarranted, but not tolerated. I have done so in the past already. If it continued, of course I would consider termination.

And yes, no one knows all the facts. Very few around here have suggested otherwise, so I don't know why that comment is relevant.

Can anyone really say with confidence that Joey has achieved anything at the eels ?

My guess is that an announcement will be made shortly along the lines that A. Johns has resigned his position at Parramatta to allow him time to reassess his involvement at a senior level and to undertake development and awareness programs throughout the school system ............ yada yada yada.

Suitman and everybody else are right, mediation is the way to go. Yes, it will be confronting. But the goal of mediation is to resolve the conflict and to partly heal the parties. The best thing the Eels can do, if Tahu agrees, is to resolve the conflict. Letting it run in the media, and the court of public opinion, might just escalate the conflict.

But Johns has a lot to learn behaviour-wise.

I've already stated that he should have been terminated for that reason alone. Long before now.
God knows, Sterlo would probably have achieved more by now and for less outlay.

can anyone say he hasn't? .... i don't think we have superstars in the halves, but who knows where we'd be at with or without him

Tahu gave Weidler an interview today it was just on Ch. 9 news.

If T keeps harping on about it, it doesn't sound like he's open to mediation...

Agreed. His role isn't to 'achieve' anything. He's a consultant and just does a session with the halves every now and then to fine tune their games.

That's the argument though. Have we seen any results? Our 5th tackle options are at best, poor. Generally, our kicking game is poor. Our dummy half and passing game is poor.
Seriously, has anyone seen any remarkable improvement in these aspects of our game that we would have expected to improve?
I haven't.

Then what does he, or anyone else learn from this?
Surely it's better that all parties been seen offering a united front against this issue? Surely that deals with the issue in a more fruitful way?
I understand why you feel like that about Johns though. I've had a gutfull of him as well.

Well, the other side of that coin is: what do aboriginal/polynesian people learn if Parramatta don`t sack Johns? That we all pay lip-service to the idea that racial villification is wrong, but at the end of the day, don`t do anything about it? I say sack the prick. Sack him because: a) he`s a goose, b) he`s a hopeless halves coach, and c) any thirty-five year old bloke who still goes by the name of 'Joey' deserves to be sacked. Useless merkin. I always thought Alan Langer was a better half anyway.

It isn't unless someone drags him aside and sorts it out.
It ain't up to him to initiate it.

it all comes down to timana if he thinks he can still work out a resolution with johns then fair enough if not then the clubs hand has been forced hasnt it

You think that people like Jarryd Hayne, Krisnan Inu, Feliti Mateo, Fui Fui Moi Moi, Mark Horo, would have much respect for Johns right now? I doubt it. His position is untenable.

Oh, geez, Suity, I`m not going to read all your posts. I know where you`re coming from. I just think that Johns has been untouchable for too long.

As it stands.........yes.
But surely it's not turnaroundable. (I just made that word up.)
