EGJ on the board of anything would be funny. By funny I mean strange. The juniors board really means nothing anyway. It's like the World Championships in an Olympic year.

yeah but Pricey doesn't seem to have an issue travelling the same could be said about Mr Ainstee AKA Bongo.
Fair enough. I guess what you're saying there is that Kolc isn't as keen to travel as those two guys?
No problem with ex-footballers on the board but we already have some of those. Do we need more? Particularly one who said football wasn't the most important thing in his life?
I agree it doesn't sit well with EGJ's comments re the standing of football in his life. But tactically, for his (his father's) ticket, it makes sense to run a couple of ex-footy players to try and take the votes that have previously elected some ex-footy players - especially when there may be some other ex-footy players running in other tickets. When you consider it was votes for Kenny, Price and Grothe that swept them to an initial victory in the FC elections, they're just covering their base I guess?

actually, he floored me with a statement the other night when he said he would only make 2 changes to the Leagues club board...I kinda regret not asking why he's part of a rival ticket then...

anyway, I'm sure I'll get the opportunity again.

Maybe he's looking for the right mix of perspectives and experience on the Board, and knows that one ticket alone can't provide the best mix? Sounds fair enough to me.

and thats fine..but why would include himself ast a part of a ticket if he believes only 2 of them are worthy of a spot??

When there's only four spots open to election, and you're happy with all but two of the current lot, then you have to run on an "opposing" ticket to try and knock those two off.

He knows that he'll only likely get one or two of his ticket up rather than all four, so it really doesn't matter who the third and fourth are, relative to the four incumbents (plus himself) that he told you he was happy with.

It's the same as multiple people running under tickets for the Senate at the real elections when only the top few of each can get in, and it's the same as incumbents/3P having a ticket of 7 (according to Suity's post) for only four spots.... Anyone that has run a ticket knows that the lower members of said ticket are usually just fodder with no real chance (even if they try and say otherwise publicly), and are just there to attract potential voters. For example, it wouldn't surprise me if EGJ is 7th on that incumbent/3P ticket, for that exact reason.

I've known a lot of people that have run in real (politics) elections, lower down in the ticket order (for all three parties). Most of them knew what they were getting into, why they were there, and how little chance they stood of actually getting voted in. But they did it to help because they believed in the ticket, believed in the person/people toward the top that were the ones likely to get voted in, and they usually got some sort of small reward later (improved access to people, a gold star for the next elections, etc).

If Sharpy knows Kolc isn't standing, then he'd want to firstly get voted in and maintain his own FC Board spot, and then with enough have a tilt at getting a second person up into Kolc's spot (holding the incumbents/3P to two of the four spots open to election this time). That's possible if it's a close-run race between people convinced to vote for those two "tickets" - if it's a landslide either way, then one ticket or the other will sweep all four spots.

(And that's not taking into account any third ticket or a strong independent running, which makes it even harder for Sharp to get enough votes for his team to more than the one spot out of the four for himself.)

It begs the question from 3P (for want of a better title - incumbants maybe?) what EGJ has to offer at a board level?
Excuse my cynicism at this nomination, but..........??

Suity

I was told he has business experience since he has been running a coffee shop for a year or so.

Yeah I don't have a problem with it since I only live 10 minutes from the airport and the flight takes just over an hour.

That's a good question if that's what he said. I would have thought that he would have wanted his ticket to get as many across the line as possible. I think more will become clearer in the coming week or so as to who is running with who.
I am not aligned with anyone else as you say Suity (can I say that?) and I'm not sure that I will even bother with how to vote cards (can I say that?). I personally just want everyone to vote for who they think will do a good job of serving our club and fans rather than who is aligned with who etc.

Amen to that philosophy! A smart member will always look beyond the simple "tickets" and how to vote cards to make their choice, imo.

He's got my vote then. Amazing experience. Coffee certainly isn't up to scatch at the club.
On another subject, juniors doing well are they?
I'm curious to know young Eric's opinions on the PDJRLFC, how he thinks they are travelling and whether he thinks the system's we have in place are for the betterment of the future of our club.

But if a member decides that "a ticket" is the way to go, does that make them unsmart?

Thanks for asking Suity - I assume that permits me to get in a "last word".

Imo, if a member votes 1-4 or 1-7 or whatever for a tciket, that is only smart if that member has had a good look at all of the candidates statements and strengths (from all of the tickets and independents), and then decided that the best 4 or 7 candidates all happened to be grouped on the one ticket.

Otherwise if that wasn't the case then yes, imo it would make them unsmart (ie. get the how to vote paper in their hand, and they'll copy it in order without much/any thought). We see plenty of unsmart voters do exactly that at any election, and the parties/tickets love it!

How are the Juniors going? Unfortunately I haven't been able to go see much Junior Footy for the last 2 years. The gods willing that will be rectified next year. Having said that. In the last two years we have had some very varied results. In 2011 we had only one Junior side make the finals, for the first time in a very long time. This year we had the Matts side become the premiers and from what I have heard it is a good squad.

I would say that we have had a few years of Hiccups in junior league and maybe those results might be on the mend after a large number of staff changes are finally bedding in. Having said that it is all about the Players you develop. . . .

As for Wenty. Well we made the finals, is all I can tell you. Unfortunately again I missed almost every Wenty game this year due to my schedule.
