What a load of BS it is not listed on fox anywhere. Why the hell do they leave it to the last minute every single time and also pissed off at the contempt which the australian media treats this sport. And ill throw in the ARLC they have made no visible effort to promote this series despite the nrl ppayers involved

What ever happened to "for the good of the game" and what happened to their lofty promises of increased focus on internationals. Its late october ffs amd there is not one international in the southern hemisphere. Going backwards at a fast rate imo

You can't blame the ARLC. Doesn't matter if it's involving some NRL players, it's not their product to sell. The RFL are the ones who sold the rights for this series. They share a fair amount of blame in this for allowing it to happen.

Am I getting this right? It's the RFL's fault for selling the rights to a company, who also deal with the sport in Australia, and that company then choose not to broadcast the game (if that happens)? I've read some crap on here but that's up there with the best of them.

I wrote this in response to spud. I think it applies to you.

The RFL gave the rights to Eurosport and said "show it, don't show it, we don't really care". Wouldn't the first part of an agreement to TV rights that it actually be shown on TV?

Crap appears to be your inability to see the ineptitude of selling a TV show and not having it shown on TV..

The broadcast rights were sold in good faith. It's not the RFL's fault your shitty TV company then decide not to show something they've already paid for. Ineptitude is the right word for the TV company's actions.

Good faith? f**k me that's naive. Piss poor contract and piss poor negotiations.
When will you guys accept that you don't have good administrators to deal with sponsorships, media and marketing.

The Aussie TV companies were falling over themselves to show this series NOT, so the RFL sold the rights to Eurosport/Foxtel. It's not the RFL's fault they treated the game with contempt. Even the TV companies that broadcast the NRL often treat international RL like shit but you can watch marbles from Venezuala at six in the morning if you like. You get games shown on delay that are actually played in Australia and the broadcast doesn't finish until after midnight. I wonder which naive tossers negotiated that deal?

What a load of shit. You just cannot accept that the RFL or who ever negotiated on their behalf, f**ked up.

Sold them on good faith? That is f**king geniused. Were they sold on good faith to the BBC or Sky NZ? Did the NRL sell the rights for the NRL competition to Nine and Fox Sports out of good faith? No, it's a basic f**king thing you get when you sell a television show, that it's actually shown on television.

The RFL should have got a guarantee from whom they sold the rights to that the matches would be shown to certain markets. Australia would be 3rd on that list for this series.

Well done RFL, you've jeopardised your sponsors from being exposed to a few hundred thousand people in Australia. All because of poor, no, lazy and thoughtless negotiating.

Oh no, Fox Sports didn't go chasing us to show the series, let's sell it to someone and hope they'll show it.

It doesn't matter if broadcasters treat the game with contempt, they will show it if you have an agreement with them to show it. And a pretty basic and non negotiable condition would be to actually show the matches. Apparently the RFL think that actually broadcasting the game isn't a necessity of selling TV rights.

Answer the question. Who organised the deal that sold the rights to Australian international matches to a company who then decided not to show them live but on delay so they could ram as many ads in as possible? I believe the broadcast of the match took more time than the average NFL game. Didn't the Australians have it on good authority that the game would be live nationwide? Sort your own house out first then you can whinge about us. Whine if there's no game and whine if there is a game.

Delayed vs none. Hmm.
Yes the old tossers f**ked up in australia. The 08 WC on 9 was shite, but foxtel provided great coverage. In fact the past few 4 nations in the NH have been on 9, even the nz v eng match.

Regardless, this is very different. Who signs a contract and doesn't specify if it has to be played.
Good to see first utility added on as sponsor (no one else would). Oh, except for the protein supplement provider. Gillette is ending their sponsorship too.

Use the money you're paying the commercial team and head hunt! Nigel can't do everything, not with his heart.

Deflect the argument to something else. Yep, that will help your point.

You're getting hammered in this topic and now you're looking immature.

You just can't accept that the RFL sold TV rights for a test series, and actually broadcasting the game isn't a freaking condition. Lol, good faith.

Ooh I'm getting hammered. What genius sells the rights for a live broadcast and says feckall when it's actually screened on delay? Answer the question. It must have been the RFL's fault.

Im still not sure who has the rights?? Is it eurosport or foxtel??

Hey ' spud, which idiots would sell UK broadcasting rights for the NRL to a subscription sports channel which number their subscribers in the thousands?

Trying to deflect the issue to Australia by using something completely unrelated and irrelevant is pathetic. It shows that you cannot come up with an explanation for the actual issue at hand, which is, who sells a TV product and doesn't demand it actually be broadcast.

We need to create a demand

By declaring mid Oct & Nov as the RL Internationals season will go a long way towards this

And then sell 4 Nations, 6N Euro Cup & 6N Pacific Cup as a package

Will go along way to starting the process
