Expected crowds for the tournament

This world cup will look great on TV with big crowds which in England means a great atmosphere.

As for the Millenium opener, in 2000 I was asked to go to Wales and help promote the double header because just 7 weeks out they'd only sold 2,000 tickets. We ended up with a huge walk up and a near 20,000 crowd which is a record for any RL game held in Wales and one which will be smashed on Saturday.

I expect another decent walk up albeit not around the 10,000 that we got in the RLWC2000

Just looked it up, that 2000 double header got 17,000 in the end.

Looks like this World Cup will be so far superior in every single way

To be fair the last double header was a lot weaker...

10,000 walk-ups would be insane, don't count on anything like that.

Is anyone actually surprised?

A game between two teams with little support, being played in one of the most remote and hardest cities to get to in the UK, 5 hours drive from the nearest decent RL hotbed and to top it all off in a big Union area?

The article doesn't tell the full; it states seats, not actually tickets sold and they have sold a fair whack of standing tickets as well. The vast majority of available seats have actually been sold. Expect a decent if not excellent crowd at this game considering it isn't a heartland area.

Hopefully we will answer some of the haters out there.

75K at Old Trafford , potentially 75K at Wembely and over 45K at the millennium stadium. Well done to the promoters.

Yes, we are not Football or a Rugby Union but we definitely hold our own and have a niche following around the world.

Can't wait for this weekend when it all kicks off.

If the website is to be believed they've sold around 2,000 standing tickets.

Its still a week away hopefully a few more tickets get sold over the weekend, Ive got a feeling if the US win they might grow a few supporters for the following games

You are not going to get bumper crowds for every match and this is arguably the two most unfashionable teams in the tournament. No big deal.
