A little before my time Jim with Flash Gordon, but my first and only cruise was on the Fairstar with mum,dad younger brother and other family members I was still in high school. The premier movie was Lethal Weapon. Must have watched it half a dozen times during the 9 day cruise.
On that first cruise when I found out they had a cinema and I could go to as many movies as I liked for free - I was in heaven!

I had to check because it was 40 years ago, my first cruise was on The Pacific Princess, the ship they shot The Love Boat on.

September school holidays in 1987 for me. The cinema was the highlight for me. Too young to drink and a family holiday as well. Got our first family VCR duty free on the trip as well. Time flys by!

I forgot about the on-board duty free. Like I said in the other post, I went to the cinema so much I became friends with the projectionist.

Pretty much the same with me Jim. The other two movies I remember playing in the cinema were Iron Eagle and Raising Arizona. But the original Lethal Weapon was the staple diet for me on the cruise. Yep, the old duty free, the old man got the VCR and a few bottles of something and mum who smoked like a chimney at the time bought as many cartons of smokes as she could. She gave the bumpers up many moons ago now and both are kicking back in retirement on the Goldy living a good life these days.

Two great movies from 1988 that I would put in the Cult Classic class. The first is Deadly Pursuit which starred Sidney Poitier, Tom Berenger and the very underrated Clancy Brown. The second is Saigon which starred Willem Dafoe and the late Gregory Hines. Saigon was kind of a war movie as it centred around Dafoe and Hines characters being CID investigators for the army in Saigon during the war. They are investigating the serial killings of Vietnamese sex workers where the suspect is a member of the higher ranks of the US army. Good movie with a really good twist.

Definitely agree with Saigon (always really liked Dafoe)

I have tried to watch Bad Boy Bubby. Just not my cup of tea.

It's only 30mins of uncomfortableness. My mate hired it back in the day, and we were all like what the hell are we watching, why are you making us watch this crap. Then he got outside, and the rest is history. Those band performances are amazing.

Elizabeth Shue was awesome back in the day. She has aged well and I have hopes she will turn up in Cobra Kai as Ali. Cobra Kai the ultimate nostalgia show on TV IMHO.
