Females and Rugby League

Here's a suggestion for a pretty intersting women's panel on the Footy Show:
  • Germaine Greer - intellectually overwhelming and not afraid to make the big calls
  • Sarah Murdoch - can be asked to explain why her idiot husband f**ked the game up in the 90s and when is Daddy-in-law going to piss out off of rugby league
  • Katie Milligan - girlfriend perspective on rugby league players, alcohol and integrity
  • Rebecca Wilson - unlikely to contribute anything but rubbish - but seeing Germaine tear a few strips would be entertaining
  • Singo's wife - in depth discussion on revolving doors
  • Daughter of the Manly sponsor belted by Watmough
  • Eagle Angels - general questions about attitiude to sexual assualt, binge drinking etc and Snake
Now - that would be a good show - as long as we don't see shots of Vautin ogling them and Johns dressing up as a woman to add some "comedy".

Are you a hillbilly?

Trouble is, a Bears jumper doesn't really fit. Gotta be wearing a Broncos jumper.

Forget what I said about women presenters earlier.

Morgnay seems like a strong woman. After seeing that four corners program tonight, I hope she rips into that f**king bastard. League is WAY too much of a boys culture and the f**king footy show is a reflection of that. Time to boot the dinosaurs and pervert out.

Matthew Johns and his Nulla teammates are sick f**king human beings. I think he career will be hurt in a big way after tonight. He did not look himself last Thursday and did not turn up for "The Sunday Roast".

I would not be suprised to see him take a backseat or resign from tv altogether.

Be careful about what are considered to be facts as delivered by a TV program, most especially any news being read or reported by "journalists". Most of the time its a fill in the blanks excersise with these guys... filled with educated guess work and slanted sensationalised personal opinion.

On the women in Rugby League, I think it's definitely needed, new fresh perspectives are always needed, we also need more player panelists on the footy show.

Agree with your comments.

Think there will be huge ramifications for Matty and league from that 4 corners program with afl and soccer expanding into league territories.
My concern is will 4 Corners do a similar show on other codes misdemeanours?

They should be in the kitchen cooking me dinner then getting sexed up.
Women's place in leagu is to stand in the crowd, wear skimpy outfits if they are hot and provide us boys on footy trips a good old time :p
Rebecca Wilson is not really a women but somehow she is registered as having a vag.
She is a big reason why vages should not be allowed to talk footy
In all seriousness though I know a few chicks who would put some of you guys in here to shame in regards to league knowledge, pitty none of them are media personalities.

Unfortunately, today is the day Rugby League died a little. After the 4 Corners story last night, Matthew Johns will be removed from on-air @ ch9 and his career in tv stunted. The Footy Show will also be taken off-air which will make most on here happy. It might return 2010 with Ray Hadley at the helm. BUT, this means the game itself will have less profile and will fall below the AFL, soccer, Union in popularity and growth. There is no answer to this situation. We can only blame the players, clubs, administration and media. Too much money, too many protected bubbles, now no integrity. The game they played in heaven is now heading south. R.I.P NRL.

I don't think I've ever read a bigger over-reaction to anything in my life. It will do the code some harm, but they really should do one on AFL too. Didn't some Adelaide player beat up his GF recently? Then there was that chicken video.

There wouldn't be enough, if any, material for a show on Super 14 or A-League players.

My mother teaches at an all-girls high school, and she says RL is all the rage. They have tipping comps, pictures of players everywhere, and never stop talking about it.

Our game is still going strong....well up here anyway!

Kiki - I applaud any die hard RL fan - we need all the supporters we can get, male or female.

I have to point out that you and your friends perpetuate the stereotype that chicks are interested in footy cos they just want to screw the players...

sorry - you probably don't intend it that way, but your website is full of comments about footy players and their looks (not football talent), your use of 'interns' is pretty sexist really, and your website seems to be squarely aimed at chicks.

this just seems to be such double standards - sure some of the dickheads on this forum have said some sexist crap - but how are you girls any different?
you say you are all 'serious', yet footy players are a sexual object to you all... Rebecca Magnay, Wilson, Spillane et all never resorted to 'nudge nudge wink wink' reporting.

so from a credibility perspective, what exactly are you all trying to achieve in the quest for women RL supporters to be seen as credible authorities on the sport?

mik ... if you read errol you'll see we've made fun of ourselves before for objectification. we are well aware that we do it. and, shock horror, we like it! we think it's fun and funny.

seems like you're from the camp kiki talked about earlier, where you believe that if you have anything to do with rl as a woman you can either find the players hot, in which case posters like you will suggest that we are bimbos or sexist, or you can be a Serious Reporter.

we say a lot that doesn't have to do with looks, but in amongst it there are pics from gods of football (which the players choose to pose for) and nicknames like hot bitch cooper.

we're straight girls and we don't feel the need to pretend NOT to find players hot just so that people like you will believe that we have brains and actually like the game, too.

believe it or not - we can do both. personally, I'm not offended by the notion of talking about people's appearance. I dunno if you've noticed but we have never said anything about boys (or gay girls) checking out the cheerleaders at the footy.

it's only human! and our readers, from what we can tell, are pretty much split half and half between women and men. we were just down in Orange for country origin week, and all the footy players and team coaches we met thought Errol was really funny. no one for a second suggested that we were bimbos or whores or that the site is sexist.

all of what we do is tongue in cheek, and that includes talking about appearance as well as footy. if we wanted to be f**king players, we would be off ... f**king players. not writing a website.

re: interns, I would agree with you that it's sexist if we implied that all men are halfwit and servile, but we don't. actually intern brownie was always smarter than us. go back and have a read! they're all MALE because we talk about league. it's not rocket science.

hope that helps matey.

Keep doing what you do Sass. You have no reason to explain yourself. I think most readers 'get' what you guys are about.

haahah oh mik. you are a halfwit.

i probably shouldn't bother addressing you because a) you obviously don't get what Errol is about (your loss btw) and b) Sassy already handed your ass to you.

but lets do this anyway. when did i ever say i was 'all serious'? what does that even mean?

if you had even the most basic level of comprehension you would realise that the slightly pervy vibe on Errol exists purely for laughs. we have even specifically stated, in our About section, that we are not interested in shagging players. so perhaps you should do your research before you lay into us.

also as Sassy said, i don't have a problem with the cheerleaders thread and u guys perving on them. who gives a crap. good looking people are nice to look at. so im not being hypocritical.

btw all the players know we don't wanna shag them and treat us as such. they seem to be able to understand that, so you should do.
