On bidding wars - it wouldn't have happened until his contract expired. We must have let him go because we are strapped for cap space. Or because we are stupid. Maybe it's both?

On Lui - maybe if another club offers to pay him overs we'll let him go, too.

Anyway, interesting times ahead...

Yes very good points,, i like the look of all of them mentioned but what is the point of finding them , supporting them, teaching and training them only to to see they are special THEN LET THEM GO. Are we going to do this every couple of years to help other clubs ....Can you see my point.... As ive said elsewhere we have spent probly millions on Gibbs , Payten, Galloway etc and we found a guy that can produce plus MORE what has taken years for the others to produce and also because he is young isnt out every 2nd f**king week.... why did they get to hang around and a guy like Andrew who seems to have done all that is asked of off him, wasnt given that chance... i aint arguing with ya mate, im just pissed as to why they didnt spend the bucks on a worthwhile player just as they have done with the others, .... Also fearing being accused of having a love affair with Shannon Gallant , he was also another guy that would have offered more to this side than anyone who has replaced him since ,AND he would have cost the club FA tho , just as Utai is costing but he would have filled a position that is cructial to a side.

And NO i dont trust management.. anyone that would re-sign Tim Tool Sheens are f**king suspect.
Can i also add:: read back for years on this forum how the supporters have been crying out to buy a GUN front rower to fill a much needed void ... so what do we get??? we f**king lose a BEAUTY to buy a second rower on Benji Marshall $$ that we dont currently need and run out trying to win a NRL premiership with the comps slowest fullback and winger

I can understand your frustrations. The salary cap needs to include incentives for junior development. The Dragons lose many Illawarra juniors every year.

I know we are losing Fifita, but if we lost the next generation of props it would be much worse. This I am sure is a consideration.

This subject can be debated for many days and weeks as to why he is going but as my last contribution to this thread id like to say a couple of things, going by the amount of players twittering etc i have no doubt that players and family also read things on League Unlimted .
So i just wanted to say thanks Andrew for you efforts at the Tigers and above all i hope you can continue those efforts for the remainder of your time with us in 2011, i along with many other supporters that thought from day one that you would make a succesful career in the NRL we have all enjoyed the exitment you have brought to our club and I truly hope that you can go on to do great things altho at another club, i for one will still watch and be a fan of yours while your are with the Sharks.
All the best

Like what ?? Benji- Lui has a zillion of them and they work around em. so why should that be a major issue.

Was a year or so ago - had some run in with the police....not the biggest deal....but there must be an issue some where ...

You constantly here Sheens talk him down, Fifita will have a barnstorming game and shines will say Payten has been doing that for 200+ games.....

Just trying to read between the lines...

Could be cause Sheens has no idea???

More on the Fifita saga here. Looks like it is as good as confirmed.

'Sheens hinted at being resigned to losing props Andrew Fifita and Bryce Gibbs who have been negotiating with Cronulla this week, but the veteran coach said nothing had been rubber-stamped with the Sharks yet.
"There is negotiations going on at the minute with Cronulla but it is the hands of the administrators," he said.
Both players would be granted early releases to join Shane Flanagan's side, with Gibbs still having three years left on his deal and Fifita 12 months.
Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said nothing had been agreed between the two parties yet, but expected there to be news on that front very soon.
"It would be wrong of me to go into details about contracts, but I think there will be some movement next week," Humphreys told AAP.
Humphreys also denied that the pair's release was a sign that New Zealand prop Adam Blair was on his way to the club in a big-money move from Melbourne.
"The offer is still on the table for Adam, but it is his right to take his time, and we are not going to rush him into making a decision," he said.'

Geeze they will look pretty silly, if they let these guys go & Blair doesn't turn up?
They MUST have a plan B, it's the only reasonable explanation IMO.
You surely can't expect to run your NRL squad with kids? They will get hurt.

At least it cant be said he is a traitor. I am sure he would have signed Woods deal if if it was offered to him. Woods, Lawrence, Ayshford, Gibbs and Fulton all get offered long deals and you dont. Dwyer included. I cant blame him for wanting to go. I think they will sign an outside back. Utai, Tuqiri, Ryan, Daniella probably wont be there in 2013.

3 quotes:

From Humphreys:

#-o I thought the same thing so I'd propose the following.

Ask Cronulla would they like one of their own back and offer them Galloway  and Fulton and we keep Fifita and Gibbs we should have some credits with the Sharkies, afterall we gave them both Morris and Collis is recent years.

I think the point he was trying to make was that it wasnt FIFITA that turned his back on the club..to be a traitor........ AND it isnt just a game germ... Its way more ;)

Work on your spelling. Especially when you put words in Capitals. My point is that Fifita is not ditching us, we are ditching him.
Perhaps you should read your own work, before you criticise anyone elses? Just thought the word was a bit over the top to use on a sports person.
I understand that Fifita is leaving for more money & the club is prepared to let him go? If he is, good luck to him. It's sport, it happens.

I hate the thought of losing Andrew Fifita, he has a lot of potential and I think will be amongst the best props in the game in a few years. I can understand the club not being in the position to be able to pay him what the Sharks will.

I will however be prepared to trust Sheens and management if he goes. I remember everyone saying how bad it would be to lose Daine Laurie, how he was the next big thing. Well management made the right decision in that case, maybe they have this time as well.

I have had a few people tell me that Sheens has a much higher opinion of BMM and Woods than he does of Fifita and this could turn out to be the right decision. Both of these players for mine look the goods.

I also think the club have high hopes for Groat and the other prop from the 20's. So in time it may turn out the club kept the right good young talent. I hope the players we kept turn out to be better players than Andrew Fifita.

Woods needs to learn how to hold a f**king ball before he can even attempt to match what Fifita can do.
Side note.. here we all are wrapping the bloke and feeling disapointed he is going and on the Sharks forum he is already getting called Fi foetus .. not real respectful for a new signing :(

That's interesting, maybe its a training/attitude thing?

Plays alright though.
