There's actually been some quite intelligent and insightful media commentary on this for once.

You've got to search for it, and none of it is coming from the telegraph of course, but it's out there at least.

The softness is driving me crazy. All this support for Wilson, Smith, The Storm & now nobody going into bat for Fifita, bar Maloney.
What is wrong with everybody? Does anybody think this is how the Storm or Broncos Operate?
Put your feet on the throats of the enemy & press & twist. Repeat.

Lots of horrible people will die horrible nasty illnesses. Its the responsibility of the family, to stop their family being horrible nasty people. Enough of her anyway. We dont have to worry about her ever again.

To have an occupation where you constantly dig for dirt on others...ringing around your sources for a skeleton in someones closet and then hanging them out to dry for the whole world to see....

To spend your whole working day going your hardest at judging others negatively........to embarrass them. To shame them. To put them down. Accuse them.

This has to take a toll on your health.

But then at the same time...to know in your heart youre guilty of the same actions or failings in your private life as those you spotlight - or even worse in many cases.....really. Thats not journalism.

Thats being a parasite.

Rebecca Wilson: No place in rugby league for Andrew Fifita

NOBODY likes it when we do this.

Comparing the codes and the individuals who take part in league, AFL and rugby union leads to ugly discrimination, occasionally unfair bias and an even denser line between the three.

The latest example is Cronulla’s Andrew Fifita — a disgraceful human being, with a long record of bad behaviour who has now decided that he can find a violent prisoner in jail, go and visit him and then decide that everything the bloke has done is absolutely fine even though a family has lost not one, but two sons as a result of the thuggery he committed on the beautiful Kelly family.

I’m not even sure that idiotic Fifita knows who the Kelly family are — the one that lost a son to a king hit in Kings Cross and then lost another one because he simply couldn’t go on living without his beautiful brother.

Instead, Fifita has made a habit of going to see his friend, convicted one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge, in prison.

This has not been something of a one off — it has gone on nearly all year and the visits are underlined by wrist strapping that states FKL — Free Kieran Loveridge or For Kieran Loveridge. Fifita denies the F stands for Free.

.
If it wasn’t so serious, you mighty even raise a wry laugh at the pathetic, disgusting nature of Fifita’s reaction and the way in which he has perpetuated it. The man has no shame, no guts and is excused by his club and his code.

For so long, he has behaved vilely towards junior league, other opponents who get in his way and even his own club that must look at him and think what are we doing?

Cronulla fans have a laugh but the rest of the league find it abhorrent and entirely wrong. He is a bad person but because he can play, the Sutherland Shire is his oyster.

Fifita should not be playing rugby league.

He should be banned by coach Shane Flanagan, and Laurie Daley, boycotted completely by the Sharks fans and stop being picked for rep teams without any questions being answered.

The Sharks juniors don’t need him hanging around their kids making trouble.

So that’s when the league steps in. Dare I say it but incidents like this do not happen in rugby union or AFL.

While there are bad eggs in both, nothing in either comes close to the atrocities that are almost routinely committed in league.

Let’s look at the club bosses who have overseen this rubbish — Flanagan, a candidate for coach of the year who has allowed it to go on right under his nose.

Then there is club boss Lyall Gorman who looks like a mild-mannered Clark Kent but has failed to put a stop to the place being one of ill repute.

Gorman appears to be honest but his credentials are questionable. Too many dodgy occurrences happen at Cronulla.

The place is competitive so everyone is applauding them but peel back the layers and things like this still go dreadfully wrong.

Cronulla Shark Andrew Fifita has caused outrage over his support of Kieran Loveridge. Picture: Cameron Richardson
Fifita’s teammates are not emerging unscathed either.

Where is Mick Ennis? The wonderful example of leader Paul Gallen? Why didn’t either of them say, “Hey bro, what’s with the tape and the initials?” Surely they would have thought it?

Fifita is one of those people who is in a side box that nobody can get to.

He is not included in the group list, there’s no what the hell is that all about?

There is no fear from him.

Todd Greenberg needs to assess the value of someone like Fifita to the code and then decide if he sacrifices him for the greater good.

No coach or trainer should say leave the poor bloke alone and let him get on with it.

This is the latest chapter in an ongoing book that makes us all cringe and seethe with anger.

Make it the last instalment because normal people are completely over this bloke and the level of acceptance he’s granted in rugby league.

It’s finished and we won’t be the poorer for it.

This was a month ago, lest we forget.

I know this is about Wilson, but his quote just brings Paul Kent to mind. All over the Fifita 'story', trying to milk it dry, keep dragging it back up and going at it with the same rhetoric.... yet he's been silent on the biggest ongoing 'scandal' in the game involving his mate Eddie Hayson who he admits he 'gets along well with'.

What's up Paul? Afraid if you start talking about this story that your old mate Eddie might get pissed off and get loose lipped? give you a dose of your own 'trial by public' medicine?

Hooper has also in his own words 'stayed away from this one as there might not be enough evidence for it to have substance'.... didn't stop you taking the ASADA stuff with zero evidence and trying to ruin careers.... wonder why there's a difference with Eddie?

Guys leave Wilson out of it. We do not need to go lo here. Its PK and his seemingly amicable sidekick Ikin who should be in our sights. These two have some brains but they have got this one so wrong it is scary and convenienly the little soapbox 360 is off air until next year so we cant call them out over this. Fair enough we can all agree Burrito can be too much at times and has put his foot in his mouth , but as has been discussed by others more intelligent than me, this witch hunt has gone pear shaped for the hunters but all we hear now from the Fox sport/Murdoch camp is the sound of crickets chirping....it sucks.

Kent should answer the double standard re the Meninga letter of support for his brother. This hypocrisy stinks. His silence on it stinks. I know he sees himself as a opinion piece writer and not a reporter but this is really a biased piece of work and I do not see Paul Kent is a stupid man. He is calculating, but I reckon this time he got it wrong and he cannot admit it. This makes him a lesser man, a coward. Someone who cannot admit when they are wrong, especially one in the public forum who sets agendas for others to follow, or gives his " opinion ", well they are dangerous.

Can someone find and post the emails of Kent and Ikin and Todd Greenburg we should compose a forum , polite letter send it off signed by as many as possible and ask why Burrito is any different TO THE CURRENT AUSTRALIAN COACH

Send it off and see what they have to say.

After all PK is always dribbling on about if only the nrl listened to those outside HQ..
lets see if he listens.

any way maybe Im rambling, just pisses me off bigtime this one.

I'd prefer if Fifita just sat there & said nothing except that he didn't want to upset the Kelly family.

Whether he likes it or not, there is a very large % of the population that thinks he should be kicked out of the game for a while.

Best to say nothing & let the likes of Jones / Devine / Latham etc speak up for him. I know he did that to some degree but he will cop another bagging now, you can guarantee it.

Well apparently Alan Jones just played a part in getting Baird to change his mind about the greyhound industry.
Maybe not such a bad move by A-Fi's management.

its interesting that the Police have not been questioned as to why they acted so illegally & against all privacy laws? Surely heads must roll in the police department?
