Five NRL clubs fined for salary cap breaches

The thing I find funny is the same clubs get fined for the same type of things usually involving the same players, year after year......but its not systematic.

Well that's not really a fair comment if it's second tier, for example. You can't not pick a team, but you only have a certain amount in the second tier. You've still gotta field 17, so if you get 8 or 9 injuries in a few month period you've just gotta bite the bullet and cop the second tier breach. I imagine, for example, the Raiders breach would be second tier or something silly like an improperly declared match payment to a back up...

Fine
Broncos
$17,045
Dragons
$22,500
Eels
$25,000
Raiders
$1,996
Roosters
$7,246

BTW, it is worth noting that none of these breaches add up to more than half the salary of a minimum wage first grade player.
As for the Raiders fine, why f**king bother?, some players spend more than that on one solitary long arse night on the town.

I think you'll find that the fine actually dates back to a breach that occured in 08 not 09. In which case you're right....we don't deserve to have finished where we did that year. Strip us of 10th...or whatever the he'll it was we finished that year

theyve been caught. and fined for breaching the cap genius.

“It is encouraging that the largest of the fines for an undisclosed guarantee at Parramatta actually relates to the 2008 season and that for the most part in 2009 we are dealing with technical issues about the way payments should have been classified rather than deceptive conduct.

I like the last bit;-) i thought this was a pisstake thread :(

I think you will find that the Storm received the largest fines for salary cap breaches in 2009

Another quality Simotard thread.

Hineyrulz i agree with you.

I have heard many people claim that simo here is the ultimate idiot/dumbass of LU. I still fail to see how they can come up with this as i truly believe every post of Simo's represents how highly intelligent he is. Dare i go as far as to say he is a genius?

We don't know how much the breaches are though.
And do any of you guys think clubs could deliberately breach the cap to divert attention away from other "breaches" ? I mean the Storm were still getting fines for breaches even still while everything scandalous was going on.

Dragons rich? Hmmmm just because the Govt keeps giving them stadium money I'm not entirely sure they're "rich" so much...
