Flanno's New Signings

The only imbecile here is the one trying to imply he is connected with "facts".
Yes....once again, you focused on the negative of the Atkinson signing. Trying to make it look like Flanno fxcked up, instead of focusing on the positive of an extremely good signing.

Now out of the 6+ cracking signings that Flanno made (Val, Cookie, Gutho, Lawson, Ilias and Atkinson + maybe a middle), the best you could muster was " I congratulated him on the signing of Atkinson". That was mighty big of you. That's it. Really. You couldn't find even a second good thing to say about Flanno. Nothing in the other 5 or 6 signings got you even a little bit excited? And that is what you are using to show that you have been fair to Flanno. It's a bit like when George Costanza went and made friends with an African American family, so he could "prove" he wasn't racist. Your hilarious.

Hey "scoop" .......Everyone of those signings had interest from elsewhere and if your "inside knowledge" is telling you otherwise, then I suggest you go elsewhere for your scoops.

In regards to Hunt, did you ever consider that Flanno was told that he was not to grant Hunt a release and he was to work with him.???
If you think it was Deano that "had a chat" with Hunt, then you are more deluded than I thought. Deano was there in his role as Senior Assistant Coach, but I can assure you, it was Flanno that told Hunt some home truths.
Please enlighten us all who the other interested parties were as it seems you must have all the inside gossip “scoop”.

For the record it was reported that D Y was involved in the bollocking of Hunt not sure whether separately or in conjunction with S F.

Not sure if this has been posted by others but nathan Lawson was named in the World Rugby's 7's Dream Team.
I am certainly looking forward to seeing him in the Red V.

World Rugby Men's Sevens Dream Team of the Year in partnership with HSBC: Selvyn Davids (South Africa), Antoine Dupont (France), Aaron Grandidier Nkanang (France), Terry Kennedy (Ireland), Nathan Lawson (Australia), Ponipate Loganimasi (Fiji), Matías Osadczuk (Argentina).
Yeah in the Podcast James Graham asked if Lawson was basically a work in progress this year and that we’d mainly see him in 2026 but Flanagan was pretty clear we would see him in 2025. I’d say he’s got some high hopes for this guy.

When we look at the number of youngsters in the top 30 as well as T&T and supp list as well, this is building up to be a year with plenty of new faces and I’m really excited by that.

Not sure how you come to some of those conclusions but so be it.

I’m no great fan of S F but am advocating he gets his shot without him being compromised.

I am also saying he should be judged by his results and no need to rush any extension.

I also saying that if he succeeds he should be extended.

I am also saying that if he isn’t willing to be patient and decides to split early then he is the Mekin of all Merkins.

I am also saying that I’m happy signing our new big 4 for 2025 however I don’t subscribe to the theory that their signing means the commute issue doesn’t exist anymore or that we are now seen as a “preferred club”

I am also saying that I believe we came up short last year and I firmly believe S F thinks that as well and have applauded him for that.

If that is somehow shitcanning him or putting a stain against him then watch out if I actually decide to criticise him.

I’m just not a zealot like others and don’t believe that we need to do anything further other than let him do his f**king job and then make a decision.

If you want to stick your hand in the monkey trap then remember you have to break the glass to get it out again.

Your pretty rude to anyone who has a differing opinion to you and who isn't rude to you first

But anyway. ........whether I have scoops or not, has fxck all to do with you and I don't need or want your validation. However, The Roosters did consider Val but decided to wait to see what was happening with Kotoni Staggs/Selwyn Cobbo and they have a plethora of boom young outside backs. Robert Toia is a gun and he is ready to go. Billy Smith Nagarwatase and Manu might be back by May June and also Suualili is also a possibility.

Manly definitely considered Gutho but they have enough cover for the positions Gutho plays and they didn't have the space in their cap for an 800k player. His manager had to do his job and we were the only club that needed Gutho's skill set (especially leadership) and could afford his 800k in our cap.

No need to be so obtuse to posters who haven't been rude to you.

Yes, I said Dean was there.

The performance review was in conjunction with Flano. The report was that there were three people in the room; Flano, Young and Hunt. Nobody has said who did most of the talking. It has been reported that it wasn't a bollocking, just a perfectly valid performance review. Flano did say that Hunt fully accepted and acknowledged the points made. In any case, even if it was DY laying it all on the table, I'm sure he and Flano would have discussed it in advance and he wouldn't have said anything Flano disagreed with.
Personally, I think Flano and Deano are working well together. I just dont get what the debate is all about.

The amount of negativity between members of this forum is staggering. The coach is good, no he's not good. That player is a dud, no he's actually really good. Let's just settle down. See how things pan out during the season. Hopefully not to many injuries and especially to key personnel. It's like this. We may not get the ideal coach or player, but I support whoever is doing the job at the time, because I support the Red V unconditionally. Have a great day everyone. DFL

So it's all right for you to use "scoop" when referencing others but OK to take offence when it's directed back at you lol.

Holmes manager reached out to Easts which is a very different scenario to Easts reaching out to him.

I say the same thing applied with Gutho & Manly.

Re being obtuse if you want to dish it out just cop it on the chin when it comes back.

The debate is purely about people's differing opinions on certain subjects heaven forbid we all start holding hands singing Kumbaya.

If people didn't post their assumptions, views, thoughts, aspirations, differences then we would all be doing something else other than spending time in here.

For me part of the annoyance of this place is that when certain individuals who wear their hearts well and truly on their sleeves and do post regularly get accosted / set up on by those that very rarely post let alone put up an original thought but rather just pile on when the brouhaha starts and then retreat crying foul when they cop a bit of flack.

Re the Hunt issue IMO if it was any less than a huge bollocking then who ever was in the room giving the review failed badly.

I have been following the big red v for well over 60 years and have seen lots of highs and horrendous lows and during that time I have been highly critical of players, coaches, office bearers as well as being wax lyrical for those I really enjoyed and in the end I have never let that stop me from following the only club I have ever supported.

The S F appointment drove me close to giving it all away but in the end even that issue is not bigger than the club or the supporters so I have had to allow my moral compass to be a little out of whack.

I hit "Saintmar" with the "scoop" moniker because he became insulting so I returned serve. I have never been disrespectful to you.....but that doesn't seem to matter with you. Anyway, I'm not going to play back and forth with you. So my lack of response is just me not being bothered trying to have you think my way. I might not agree but I respect all opinions. I'm just going to continue with the buzz that I'm feeling with all the wonderful signings Flanno, Deano, Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny have made. I'm really pumped for the season to start. "Saintmar" is a troll and is just here to stir the pot and he is trying to take the lustre off a very shiny thing. But hey, he obviously sees things a lot like you and this is probably as you both don't like Flanno. Your prerogative. Hopefully we will both be cheering the side on with loads more success.

1. Still with the don't like Flanno rhetoric as if it has some bearing on my football related posts.

2. In respect of not liking him re peptides etc sure happy to sign off on that.

3. In respect of his coaching style, selections, game plan, recruitment, retention policy etc point 2. above has no influence on my thought process the 2 issues are completely separate of each other.

I don't believe "Saintmar" is a troll and not sure he actually sees too many things like me but for sure some things we are of similar persuasion.

I think he is a passionate supporter and much like I do bangs hard on the table when he feels he has been misunderstood or accused of something that he isn't saying.

Interpretation and comprehension among passionate supporters is often lacking.

Gutherson left Parra because he wanted to play fullback and was told by a rookie coach to the incumbent captain, "yeah nah you're probably gonna be on the bench or some shit, I dunno, We'll see."
He asked Manly were they interested, and they have Tommy MadeOfMatchsticks Turbo, so he wouldn't be getting fullback there
We wanted him, we got him
Thats all there is to it

Ryles floated the idea of playing him at lock. Gutho would have done his best and been physically destroyed in the process.

That type of signing is what separates the best coaches & systems from the all so rans.

Bennett worked it out how to combine local talent with the right set of hardheads and flamboyance evidently according to some S F cant do that anytime soon and needs years to achieve anything similar yet he’s a good coach that should be signed long term.

We had a great crop of backs in 2009 and we added some forwards to get the job done so by 2027 / 8 I expect us to have the bulk of the forwards and we will need to add a few backs to again get the job done.
Errrm

I think the local talent he inherited was a little to superior to what’s come after it.

From 2005-11 the club had 12 Origin players who were all local juniors. Plus Flo fur NZ. Plus Horse, plus Kite who became Origin players at Saints. At a stretch, throw Brett White in too.

WTF happened? Were we just so lucky we took it for granted, or has someone completely f**ked up?

And Flanno hasn’t fixed this abomination in one year?

Lol.

What Bennett inherited was generational and no doubt he was well and truly kissed on the dick

Not sure it can be repeated but even if it is along the lines of Baths Babes that would do fine.

Those young home grown forwards mingled with a few others certainly did a job on much more fancied teams.

Lol. "my moral compass" What a burden that must be.

The important thing is that you are still here to guide us.
Have you ever been close to or known anyone who suffered as a result of being enticed into taking something they were guaranteed was safe?

When you do come back to me smart arse.

That horrendous event could have easily cost young people their health if not their lives and is no joking matter.

1. I am not sure that discussions of the covid vaccine are welcome on this forum.

2. You misunderstand my position. A lot of people would say that a man who is sincere and not a hypocrite does not grandstand about his moral superiority and undertake to never post on a forum again, but then in the blink of an eye creep back onto the forum and start posting again.

I used to think that a sincere man - a man who really believed what he is saying and was not just prancing and posing on the internet like a skirt admiring herself in front of the make-up mirror - would ACTUALLY DO WHAT HE SAYS HE WILL DO!

But apparently not. You have shown me that that is not so. Thank you so much, Oh Moral One.

Now you’re just being a complete f**kwhit.

1. The COVID drugs your are no doubt referring to that unfortunately did cost some people their lives came with something that peptides didn’t namely a pamphlet containing warning notes and the bottom line on all of those is “can cause death”. Danks, Sharks, S F, Essendon, J H are extremely lucky.

2. My reappearance on the forum was explained long ago and if you had read that you wouldn’t be questioning it but if you have read it your either a dumb merkin or just a straight out merkin.
