The club should have been working hard to get rid of Rava and Lawrie If they did this then there would be 3 spots available. Lodge would have been worth the risk if there were 3 spots available.

I am tied of coming into a new season without the cattle that is needed to be competitive with the top 4 clubs.
You can show Rav and Lawrie the gangplank but you can't make them walk it.

Would prefer someone like Emre Guler from Canberra than Welch
He is a big lad. But at 27 y.o. he is still playing NSW Cup.

We want a prop to bend the line and offload. For that we have to sign someone who is already doing that. But props like that are all signed. This just goes to show that you have to recruit these guys young and then keep them. Like LPT.

Yep. Welcome to the mighty Red V. Here's your chance to be a bit of a leader to the young blokes if you think you can be and want to be. It's up to you.

Everyone seemed to know (myself included) except Flanno.

The Flanno interview is actually funny, cause Buzz was going to lead with the Lodge story up until Flanno hit it on the head.
What ya talking about Buzz? Could have knocked a head off a schooner with that comeback. 🙄

Just looked it up. Does seem like a pretty decent time.

The Bronco Test is a fitness test that assesses a person's aerobic capacity. It involves running a series of shuttle runs over 20m, 40m, and 60m. The goal is to complete the test as quickly as possible.

Some of the best Bronco test times for NRL players include:

  • Tom Dearden: 4:26
  • Zac Lomax: 4:28
  • Hohepa Puru: 4:33
  • Beauden Barrett: 4:12
  • Cam Roigard: 4:12

The Lodge story lived a short life and came down like a lead balloon.

Glad to have Flanno in charge.

The train and trial contract is our offer to you Mr Lodge, and $1200 a week is all we are paying you, at least for now. Show your worth and maybe you'll be in line for that open top 30 spot as the season progresses.

Front row stocks across the competition are few and far between. Can Blake Lawrie come good after playing out last season with a sternum injury? Can LKT, Hamish S and to an extent Dylan E (as his development will open up the possibility of shuffling others around in the existing pack) accelerate in development?

I still think we are years off being able to get into the same atmosphere as the usual mainstay top four teams... but more regular competitive football shouldn't be too far away.

Unfortunately, the prop we should have got was Fonua-Blake. The reality... we were way behind the 8-Ball on this one for a number of reasons, not least that Flanno at the time was still transitioning into the role. Had we locked in Flanno earlier I think this would have been a very different outcome. If a similar calibre of prop does come onto the market, something tells me we won't miss out next time...

Some more thoughts that came into my head while having lunch...

Until we set the record straight with our rivals, outside players looking for work and their managers, that we are no longer going to be 'bottom feeders' for the rest of the competition, we will just continue to be a below average club forever and ever.

The days where we sign the likes of Josh McGuire because we are desperate (and because he's a mate of the coach + certain other players) must surely be behind us now.

Fitness for him is no issue whatsoever.

I see no impediments for him other than adapting to the 13 man game and ability of course and I would suggest he is already in front of all but 2 at best 3 candidates for a spot in 1st grade.

Edit: When I said ability I think he’s got plenty.

lawson will be fit as. One of my good mates played rugby 7's and the fitness training they put them through is insane. Theres no where to hide with only 7 blokes on the field. Lomax did 4:28 at 94kg and this bloke is 100kg, very good effort.
