I don’t understand the bird hate. Give him a chance. If he doesn’t perform flano will drop him, if he does then zac will play wing and we have 2 elite wingers

There is no hate I don’t think ?

There is concern with his contract at $550k pa 2024 based on his form last two years which was terrible vs his $

In 2025 a MO means that even if we dont agree with a potential $550k from his side of a MO he might still take up our option which for a club in a MO situation is lower …….but it might still be $450k.

If playing bad and or can not physically make it …….well that is a massive opportunity cost for us versus other options in the market for $450k plus

If Birdy is in 2016 form and body athletically working iit…..then all good no complaints from anybody

I think it's more mistrust of his fitness and a lack of confidence in his ability at centre than hate. I'm in the Bird to 14 camp, that's where he's most useful. I was really looking forward to us putting a speedster like Tamale or a beast like Tuipulotu on the wing, I certainly didn't think we would move our best centre there to accommodate Jack.
I'm happy to see how it pans out and hope Jack can recapture his form from a few years back but I'm dubious.
Flanno has proven to be a pretty good operator but with a spoonworthy squad like ours I guess desperate measures will occasionally be our plan B.

I read that we showed interest in getting LL back to the club some ways back last year but Todd Payten was really happy with him and did not agree to letting him go? So with what has been going on in that the Cowboys are now happy to rid him so that they can use the money freed up by LL to re-sign Luki and Finefeuiaki, LL and his manager think that it might be a good opportunity to increase his price tag by a couple more hundred thousand $$ per year for any suckers who might want him.

LL has said that he wants to come back to the south and I have read that his Mum is quite ill and that is a reason for this return to our State. This is appreciated but does this mean that he can ask for more cream to his current overpaid salary and that he can have his cake and eat it too? To me this smells like the AFB request to come back to Australia to be closer to his parents and sucked clubs in getting a better deal and went for the Sharks when it was more or less home and hosed that we would beat the Tigers and Bulldogs for his services.

Don't get sucked in again Dragons.

I might be a tad wrong with my price increase being sought by LL. It appears that he is already earning the $900K so what we would need to fork out is that figure and that poses a problem on how much Su'a is worth for us to re-sign him for if in fact we actually sign up LL.

This is what happens when everybody knows our trough is pretty full, they all want a piece of it and some want it all !!! And because we are deemed to be a struggling club, well we just have to cop it sweet, so they say. Flanno needs to draw a line in the sand and make some sort of stand that we are not something that can get smashed every time a player or manager thinks its a good idea to do so because we have money in the cap. For me its Su'a every day of the week rather than someone who has never completed a contract and thinks of themselves as an immortal, not to mention his manager, what favours has he ever done for the Dragons.

Or they are just better operators than our lot as are most teams ........ They all seem to get who they want ........
But, if he's not worth the price he's asking then we don't want him. I pity the poor pricks that have to negotiate these deals as they're obviously negotiating with a bunch of mongrels and they'll cop a pasting regardless of the outcome. If another club wants to pay more than we're prepared to, so be it. He's yet another Saints product that we're trying to buy back. The recurring lesson is that we should do everything possible to develop and retain our talent.
