The South Sydney Rabbitohs have made two more additions to the Club’s coaching staff for season 2017, with Anthony Seibold joining Michael Maguire’s coaching staff as Assistant Coach, and Jarrod Wade will join the Club as Sports Science and Rehabilitation Coach.
Anthony Seibold is an experienced coach who will join the Rabbitohs from the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles where he was Assistant Coach to Trent Barrett. Seibold is also the current Assistant Coach to Kevin Walters with the Queensland State of Origin team.
Previously Seibold has been an Assistant Coach at the Melbourne Storm where he also coached their Holden Cup side, was Head Coach of the Mackay Cutters and also worked in the Super League as an Assistant Coach. Seibold has also coached the Queensland under 18s and was an Assistant Coach for the Junior Kangaroos.
Seibold’s playing career included stints with the Brisbane Broncos, Canberra Raiders, Hull Kingston Rovers, London Broncos and AS Saint Estève, as well as representative selections for Queensland under 17s and 19s, Queensland Residents and for Germany.
Jarrod Wade was the Lead Strength Coach with the Parramatta Eels during the 2016 season, and has previously worked in strength and rehabilitation roles with Essendon in the AFL, performance analysis with AFL club Geelong, and as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with West Perth Football Club in the WAFL.
Wade has done extensive work throughout his career on the reduction of soft tissue injuries in elite athletes.
The appointments of Seibold and Wade come on the back of the previous appointments of David Furner as an Assistant Coach and Paul Devlin as Head of High Performance for next season.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire is pleased to be bringing these people into the Rabbitohs’ organisation.
“We’re bringing in some highly experienced football and performance coaches into our Club next season which will be a positive for the Club as a whole,” Coach Maguire said.
“We’re looking forward to Anthony and Jarrod joining David, Paul and the rest of our coaching staff in preparing for the 2017 season in the coming weeks.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the current staff who are moving on at the end of the season, who have all made such a fantastic contribution to this Club over the past five years or more.
“Kurt Wrigley and Wayne Collins did wonderful jobs as Assistant Coaches for a number of seasons and helped us deliver the Club its 21st premiership.
“Also guys like David Penna, Scott Johnson and Michael Macri who have worked away behind the scenes have played their part in our successes, and on behalf of everyone at Souths I want to wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
