The stats he did well in were ones he has always gone well in.
Maloney had more kicks per game. More kick metres, More 40/20's more Forced line drop outs
The actual stats that halves need
A try assist is more valuable than a forced drop out or a 40/20. And of the stats you listed they're the only meaningful ones that can be taken on face value. Try assist and linebreak assists are a playmakers job aswell.
What do the amount of kicks or metres kicked matter? Anyone can boot a ball without purpose. Those stats don't mean the kick was good. In general that may be the case but its really about the weakest stat to say one hslf is better because he kicked more frequently for more metres.
You said it yourself. Maloney had more kicks... because at our club he was one of our very few options. Moylan is one of many kicking options at Sharks who like to let Graham and Lewis finish sets too. Despite that he still finished with pretty good stats in a team that shared the workload around.
What area did Moylan fail in at 6? Not whatarea did Msloney have a slightly better stat. But in what area did he fail where you could say either of our halves was better?
