Who is comparing to Maloney. I don't rate Moylan as a half fullstop. Maloney is only here to help Cleary get good Luai is the future.

There is many stats Maloney was better in comparison but my point still remains why go after a half if they have theirs

At this point it is demonstrably true that Moylan is a good half.

As for signing Johnson it's because there aren't any fullbacks. Barba was their original target but they kept the money for Holmes which is why they are in this position. SJ at half and Moylan at fullback is plan B.

So if Holmes decides he wants to come back mid-year they'll have spent his money.

The stats he did well in were ones he has always gone well in.

Maloney had more kicks per game. More kick metres, More 40/20's more Forced line drop outs

The actual stats that halves need
A try assist is more valuable than a forced drop out or a 40/20. And of the stats you listed they're the only meaningful ones that can be taken on face value. Try assist and linebreak assists are a playmakers job aswell.

What do the amount of kicks or metres kicked matter? Anyone can boot a ball without purpose. Those stats don't mean the kick was good. In general that may be the case but its really about the weakest stat to say one hslf is better because he kicked more frequently for more metres.

You said it yourself. Maloney had more kicks... because at our club he was one of our very few options. Moylan is one of many kicking options at Sharks who like to let Graham and Lewis finish sets too. Despite that he still finished with pretty good stats in a team that shared the workload around.

What area did Moylan fail in at 6? Not whatarea did Msloney have a slightly better stat. But in what area did he fail where you could say either of our halves was better?

He won't be returning to Sharks. Holmes would have picked North Queensland over them anyway... but Paul Gallen bagging him the way he did pretty much burned the bridge completely.

They would be foolish to sit aside ~$1m a season for a player who isn't interested in being there on the slim chance he does return. If there's no one available you might consider it. But if a star half becomes an option and no other club can go close to matching what you have available. You sign him.

1 year deal works better for Sharks too. They have a great temporary fix while looking at a true replacement for Holmes.

He had a conditional release. He should be only able to return to Sharks who have spent the money.

Meaning he should free for Cowboys. Which is where he wants to be if he returns anyway.

Yeah I think everyone assumes that's where he'll go. Like you said earlier Gal and the Sharks further burned that bridge when they shot their mouths off in the media.

His involvement, he went missing a lot, particularly when the game was on the line, he needs to improve his game management.

Personally I hope he gets the chance too, I think he’ll make a superb No.6 and only really be an average FB.

His kicking in General play is also Not terrific

Moylan's short kicking game is above average

Yet Maloney had more forced dropouts. With if you believe some on here had a coach that banned short kicks. Moylan is a great foil which I why I like his as a fullback infact if he goes back to fullback they will finish infront of us
