Forward passes

Passing is different. You simply can't pass the ball without having physics effect it.

You CAN pass it without passing it forward. Before coaches became so crazy obsessed with territory they didn't play so flat. Remember those deep as shit backlines of the 80s?
Problem is that the way the game is played these days everything is at the advantage line because whatever else we do we have to gain our 50 metres every set and get to a kick.
The one rule of the game that should be iron clad is that you have to earn every metre of territory. You own every piece of territory behind you but not one millimetre in front of you.
If its too tough to create stuff without floating momentum induced forward passes and running two decoys every play then lets get rid of some players.

Careful now, you'll get called an idiot for saying you can pass the ball backwards

Yeah nah.

Pretty much sums up why you are wrong.

All of those examples look forward to me. Have a look at that one where he says "surely if you throw it over your head it can't be forward"...sorry, but it is. Think of whether you were applying a knock on rule. They def call that a knock on. You can't correct a knock on by over running it.

The Turbo one vs Broncs is a classic. How they let that go is beyond me.

I'd have to see the replay but consider the person passing it & his speed. Then consider how long the ball was in the air for.

Why can't the TV networks tell us the speed of the runner (in km/hr & m/s) & how long it's in the air for. They can do it for bowling / catches in the cricket.

That might stop people complaining about long passes thrown at speed being forward because I reckon most times they are not.

Passes from a stationary dummy half....different story.

You CAN pass it without passing it forward?......no shit.

This isn't the 80's anymore. Deep backlines would get killed and I'm not even going to waste time with a removing players argument.

Passes that float forward aren't the problem. Obvious forward passes that go missed and have little to do with floating forward are the problem.

OK, just dont say it isn't the passes fault that it went forward as of it happens by magic. Just admit, we compromised the rule. Passes can go forward but we still reserve the right to whinge that the ref got the call wrong.

Yes. Physics is indeed some kind of sorcery.
