Sartor to play halfback this weekend !!!!

It has to be to do with the DA because the extension to the SW corner of the groun from the ET stand to past the old scoreboard is nothing to do with Sartor and state politics yet. That involves a grant we have asked the Fed Government for. We asked for Approx $8Mil hoping to get about $5mil to go towards that extension.

SO Sartor must be announcing something, and the club won't be hosting him to announce he's knocked it back :)

Great Idea! He f#cked up everything he's touched in government so he should be able to feed some bullshlt into the scrums as well.

LOL too true.

ON a serious note, I also expect there to be another coup for the club this week , possibly announced as soon as this weekend or early next week in terms of a Sleeve Sponsor coming on board. Kudus to the new marketting team.

Hello all

The DA has been on Sartor's desk waiting for final approval for a few months now

It's all ready to go

I dont want to get anyone's hopes up but I'd be extremely surprised if it was anything but the final approval

Sartor will also be after media ops to usurp the local Liberal council who are the ones who actually backed the proposal and put it on his desk

Look for his ugly gap toothed mug on the front page of the Leader Thursday alongside a grinning, daft Barry Pierce

Furthermore it will be interesting to see how Schreiber and co get some media space for the credit they deserve, particularly amidst the war they are waging on Sartor regarding the EP&A Act and also the critical infrastructure provision on the desalination plant

If I had to have a second guess what this is about, it would be about the desalination plant
But that is electoral suicide at the moment so it's all proceeding very low key

;-)

So.. does this mean my turning to the dark side and voting for the Libs at local government level wasn't in vain?

Corrrrrrrect.

It's a good development policy but it's interesting they have now declared war on Sartor by saying the EP&A Act is a "win for developers".

Approval is one thing, approval for a plan that is going to maximise the profit potential of the clubs asset is another thing altogether.

My fear is that the plans approved tomorrow will be such a watered down , compromised version of what we orginally started with, the profit and earning potential will me far smaller than what we need in future years.

You are only alowed to spend up to the cap, which we have done.
How will the development help any short term sharks problems?
In the meantime, the assett continues to grow.
I'd be happier if they just changed strategy to increase revenue through the existing club, to pay for the football.

A fair point, but it takes more than just the 3.25 mio to run a successful football team.
You need, amongst other things, state of the art training facilities, physicians, dieticians, therapists, specialists in all sorts of things like kicking, tackling, sprint training, strength and conditioning. The list goes on.

As we've moved to a fulltime professional sport, the need for greater facilities has increased exponentially. You basically need your own mini AIS to be sure your players are getting the best possible training and attention.

The clubs with the most success since the NRL came into being have pretty much all had far better resources to call upon than us.

And the clubs which are floundering, eg Souths, have archaic training grounds.

Surely increased revenue from the proposed development could be put towards creating a better environment for the players.

I would hope any development would help to provide enough cash flow to be able to upgrade the facilities we already have and make Shark Park a very attractive place for players to play.

So can someone explain how this development thing works?

Do we lease out our vacant land to developers? Or some other spectacular approach that is beyond my comprehension?

Beeks, they were never going to get everything they wanted under a Labor Government that is more concerned with winning Greens preferences than governing for the majority.

Left-wing Labor would be more interested in looking after the interests of the mangrove-inhabiting black 3 legged blind swamp frog than providing jobs, industry and financial benefits for the local community.

Me too dread. Good news if it's true. I am actually trying to think how many years ago it was I went to the Sutho council meetings to report back on our progress. It must have around the year 2000. Geez it's taken a while.

For all his narcissistic, f**kwitted ideas...Sartor actually gets results and really says, to hell with anyone who doubts me

That's what we needed here.

Sure this has taken a while but would it have happened under Knowles? It didnt, so no.

Sure it would be great if it was happening under a Coalition Government but Cranky Franky has come through with the deal...even if it's just going to be him taking credit for the hard work of others.

Just one thing about Sartor

He was the Minister for Energy and Utilities in April 2003
In 2004 he actually renamed the Department the Dept of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability

Why? He was the Minister and DEUS is Latin for God.

Excuse me while I get my sick bucket.

Sartor is a grand stander and nothing more. Unfortunately this state government has really lost sight of what the state needs.... but it has created more national parks than any other government ... something to be proud of when every public utility and service is deteriorating eg education public transport, health, power, water etc. On the other hand former premier for the other team Nick Greiner lined the pockets of all his mates also at the expense of us the taxpayers.
May as well just accept thet we're going to get screwed however is in power!
They'r all tarred with the same brush - they just lie using different phrases..

for all you blokes on this forum pinning your hopes on this developement can you explain what affect you think that will have on the football side.

its not the panacea you think it is!

About all I can see it doing is offsetting the poker machine tax for the licensed club through it's rental properties.

The only effect I can see it having on the football club is maybe buying a few more rolls of strapping or maybe providing money to update facilities.

It won't win us a comp that's for sure.

A new local enviormental plan was too be introduced on monday, one that sutherland council have been attempting to do since 2000.

State government have taken the planning controls away from the council and will now run the ship.

The announcement is all for the proposal and if not i would be very surprised. Planning controls have been tight for a long time and the state government are going to go nuts. Look out for more townhouse/villa development on a corner near you.

Long time coming, a great way for the government to get some votes for next years election.

And i agree, it wont win us a premiership

Sartor has no sympathy for anyone of the thousands of workers who must endure the archaic road system bwt Sutherland and Sydney airport. He opposes the F6 which is just plain stupid imo. I hope he gets caught in traffic at brighton for an hour because some scum bag parks their car in the clearway to get a forcacia and coffee.
