Freddy has roarters biased views.

Rather keep Widdop, play him in his correct position and send Mary packing.
It would be a win win situation but l don't want to start another 'sack McGregor thread' ( we already have enough ) so please ignore my comments.

Blind Freddy can see that.

I feel your last sentence gets to the heart of why Widdop is leaving at year’s end.

He’s sick of the joint. It’s poorly administrated both on and off the field.
I tend to think this posting is on the money. Now having said that we might as well be commercial about it and seek a transfer fee from Warrington for his services. His head is probably still in the joint (because he is a professional) but his heart is not; and you need heart to play this game.

I have no problem with Widdop wanting out of the club but we then need to be grown up about the position and move him on, free up significant salary cap space and strengthen the roster accordingly.

To that end it is clear that our halves are of 1st grade standard and so is the pack. A decision has to be made between Robson and McIness. We don't need to carry 2 1st grade standard hookers. The key to this team taking the next step is in positions 2/3/4/5. This is where the money needs to be spent.

Norman has only just arrived. Don't worry, when Widdop is gone, people will realize what we have lost and Norman may become the new whipping Boy.
I agree , but if he wants to go now let him , so they can work out whos playing where , you know it takes a looooong time to work out with our coaching staff ......

Does anyone know how much say L plate has in recruiting & retention. One minute he says Ian is in charge of that so I’ll leave it to him.
Then it’s I won’t be releasing him.
This mob really sound like a bunch of amateurs running a bush pub side. No offence to bush pub sides intended.

Very simple Blacksafake.....if it's a wrap it's Mary and if it is harsh criticism then it's Millward. This coach can paint over more than Gym walls to cover cracks!

Are you saying Deano should not have played first grade? What?

The way most of you feel about Mary is the way I feel about D. Young. I don't like him, I refuse to give him any credit for anything. In his early days he wouldn't have made 1st grade in any other team especially a team as well served for Hookers, Locks and 2nd rowers as we were in 2003 - 2006 for example and he certainly wouldn't have been handed a run on spot week after week while better players warmed the bench or missed out altogether. If this Forum had been around back then, Young would have been a massive whipping boy. You all would have been screaming for him to be dropped for better players and crying nepotism. He's like a Jake Marketo who's dad just happens to be on the Board.

No doubt he was a neither nor player and only family ties got him as far as he did.
No doubt about his passion but he was grossly over rated and over selected.

I have to say I disagree re Dean Young...was one of the toughest players we had and I remember Bennett saying the same thing...he couldn't train most weeks after he got the golden staph infection in his knee and although not the most talented player he had guts. That try in the 2010 GF when he kissed our badge is etched in my memory forever. If we had 13 players with his guts we wouldn't be going to bad....

that being said, I do not want to see him as our 1st grade coach....

This is what will happen in my humble opinion....McGregor will be extended and Trent Barrett will be bought in to assist....only way this doesn't happen is if McGregor is 0 from 7.........

The issue is Widdop has never said he "wants" to go.
The emphasis needs to be on "wants" which is vastly different to "at some point".

OK i see your point , if as I say if he does want to go , wouldn't it be best for both parties ?

For sure if he truly wants to go "now" then get it done but if he "wants" to see out the year then that should be the case.
Too much conjecture as to the reasons behind Widdop going and only very few know the truth of the matter.
I am of the belief that Widdop leaves with a heavy heart and not by choice as my understanding is he is very happy in the Gong and loves the life he and his family has there but obviously there is probably more than meets the eye in this situation.
In this case I would err on Widdop's side rather than the club as to the machinations surrounding how this has played out.

Watching Widdop at fullback when the opposition are running at him, he always goes for the intercept rather than take out the ball carrier. Big sign that he does not want to make a high impact tackle.

He is not confident in that shoulder, just wondering if that his reason to go to Super League and pickup one less big contract and minimise the longer term damage.
He tackled a rampaging JT in the Cowboys game.

I'm not sure you've been reading all of the posts then. Especially before the season started.
I have been reading a lot of them and if your comment was about pre season perception then that is ancient history.
The majority of sentiment question the validity of purchasing Norman.
How it has displaced our captain and the one of the world's greatest 5/8's and relegated him to FB.
How the combination with Hunt hasn't gelled yet.
There are also many posts that doubt his quality as a 5/8 based on Parra's poor performances these last years.
So please tell me where the "adoration" for Norman is now that everyone has seen him play 2 games?
Having an opinion is one thing.
Throw away lines with not a lot of substance is another.

It's interesting because from where I sit, Widdop is very popular with most folks on this forum.
Hardly a whipping boy.
I have to say that your highest paid players and especially the spine, are always going to attract the most scrutiny and comment from the fans.
Norman will be no different.
If he doesn't perform, the fans will cane him.
If he wins games for us, he will be the next pin up boy.
Human nature if you ask me.
