12 minutes away from 3-0??? - lol, the last 12 minutes is the most important, if a team can't keep thier composure in tight matches then they'll never be top 4 material, let alont top 8.

Put Souths on every Friday night...

I rarely watch Friday night cause its not in HD, full of f**king ads and i have to listen to Gould and Rabs argue about what colour there sh*t is...

Saints on Sat night are perfect or Sunday arvo at 2pm... actually i would rather Monday night then Fri

So in other words i dont have to watch Souths

I meant it isn't fair to all 16 teams. And it shouldn't be. Some people are stupid enough to want the FNF games split evenly between all the teams. To them I say: go back to Cuba.
Yes, the Cuban RL fans will ruin it for us all!

I think C9 got it right showing a Broncos FNF game from Canberra. They seem to favour QLD home games on FNF. There is also no reason not to show Raiders/Warriors away games, or as I said a Warriors home game on delay - they did in that classic game v Souths a few years ago.

Personally I am sick of seeing Broncos jumpers on telly. I know my mob are as watchable as Bunniesman's home made amateur gay porn, but there are other clubs worthy of the go.

I just wish 9 offered the alternative game on their digital channel.

I'm a big advocate of this. More people simply tune in at 7:30pm - especially families with kids. By having 4 sets of fans watching, over the two channels, you're going to increase your audience. You can also double the use of the material by still showing the 9:30pm repeat on both as well - and sell the same sets of ads over both.

7:30pm Football currently rates around 1.0-1.3 million normally. By having 2 games on each state would increase this to about 1.8 million plus (slightly below what the current 4 hours pulls) over the 2 channels - it'd be a regular top 5 programming block. It doesn't affect 9's % shares as they include Gem/Go as part of their numbers.

Then also as a benefit - the 0.5-0.9 million watching on at 9:30pm for the repeat - these would essentially become "additional viewers" to the yearly totals - about 15,000,000 a year without making any additional content.

The only major issue is people switching over during ad breaks to watch the other game at the same time as it would be impossible to simulcast the ad breaks as the two games have very different flows to them and people will be inclined to change channels. This is a concern in particular when a game is rather one sided.

My suggestion - and some might think it controversial - but it would be to actually remove the constant current score graphic from the coverage - except when a try/conversion is made. (Note: 9 actually do this in the last 10-15minutes of one sided matches normally).

That way if you randomly flick over, you will be more enticed to flick back so not to miss your own action. Plus then - the snippet of the other game you do see will act as advertising so you watch it a 9:30pm. I think its a small price to pay to make people sit through full games and to get more people watching at 7:30pm.

I almost always watch FNF because I don't care about HD, can live with the ads, and I think Gould and Rabs are brilliant commentators.

What's their excuse for not giving us the option, surely their ratings would increase if we had the option? The odd occassion that the Roosters are the delayed 9 game and I'm not there I never watch it on channel 9 I wait for the replay on Fox so I don't have deal with the all the advertisement but if it were given to me as a choice I'd watch it live.

what you should do is tape the later game and start watching it at 10pm so you can fast forward the commercials.

Lack of vision from both parties.

Seconded!

So C9 will play them at a better time on Monday Night? Of course, Storm are used to playing in front of no one. MNF would suit them.

FNF needs less Broncos. And the Warriors 5.30 thing is an excuse. If any of the 3 QLD sides played a FNF game in NSW, play that live, and the Warriors home game on delay in Australia. PLay them both live in NZ.

FNF always needed more Warriors and Raiders.

Generally speaking, on average (as this can sometimes vary), the highest rating timeslots (in terms of number of viewers) are as follows:

Friday 7:30pm (live FN Ch9 game)
Sunday 3pm (Ch9 Sunday game), then
Friday 9:30pm (delayed FN Ch9 game) and Monday 7pm get very similar ratings
Saturday 7:30pm (live Fox game)
Saturday 5:30pm (live Fox game)
Sunday 2pm (live Fox game)
Saturday 9:30pm (delayed Fox game for those without viewers choice)

Regarding the Warriors home matches, Fox much prefers to have them in the Saturday 5:30pm timeslot, as it gets more viewers than the 2pm Sunday game and even more than the 12pm Sunday timeslot (same as Sky Sports New Zealand. Sky Sports prefers 5:30pm EDT kickoff, as 7:30pm EDT is 9:30pm over in NZ which is very late).

Ch9 get the first two picks, most of the time choosing both of them as their Friday Night games, but on some occasions, chooses them as one as a Friday Night game and the other as their Sunday game (which has CLEARLY been done for the round where Brisbane/Bulldogs is on FN and Dragons/Eels on Sunday, which Rabbitohs/Sharks being the 'filler' 3rd choice game). Fox gets 3rd and 4th pick, which they choose most of the time as their Monday Night game (their equivalent of Ch9's FN live game) and the main Saturday 7:30pm game. The main Saturday 7:30pm generally gets higher ratings than Saturday 5:30pm, although sometimes the 5:30pm timeslot does well (Eels/Roosters, highest rating game on Fox in 2010, was on this timeslot).

There was complaints that when the Saturday 3pm game was done away with in favour of introducing the 5:30pm timeslot in 2001, that 5:30pm was still early. However, as has been recently shown in NSW/ACT in the last couple of years, 8:30pm kickoff is too late. I wouldn't mind seeing the Super Saturday games shifted back at least half an hour to 6pm and 8pm respectively.

This is one of the more stupid threads I've come across, you know not plain dumb but a bit like....answering your own question.
Clearly, FNF is going to feature a Queensland team, and the majority of Queensland's population resides in Brisbane and *shock horror* most are supporters of the Broncos.

I do wish we had more Raiders and Sharks games though as the 2nd timeslot, I get sick of watching Parra and the media darlings AKA Wests Tigers.

Literal lol happening here. You answer your own bloody question while whingeing about others doing the same.

Just like the Broncos get most of the FNF in the QLD centric timeslot because they're the biggest team, and the Cowboys don't getanywhere near as much because they're much smaller.

That's precisely why teams like the Raiders and Sharks don't get as many in the NSW centric timeslot and the big 5 Sydney teams do.

Lack of vision and they might fear that not everybody has access to the digital channels.

Hopefully they look at it for next season or at the very latest 2013 where everybody will have to be digital to get a signal.

We could legitimately have 5 straight games on FNF after that:

R12: vs Tigers @ Kogarah
R13: vs Eels @ Parra
R14: vs Titans @ Kogarah (if Titans improve in the coming weeks)
R15: vs Broncos @ Suncorp
R16: vs Sea Eagles @ W'gong (but prob a Sat/Sun game)

I think Souths v Storm will get the FNF that week. But I could see you getting 12 and 15 and possibly 14.

You're obviously deluded if you think Dragons v Tigers or Eels v Knights will get Friday night billing over a double header at Suncorp stadium

There's no excuses for the next TV deal.

By simulcasting it they can draw another 15 million viewers a season and dominate Fridays at 7:30pm.

The main issue are the ad break channel changers - however like I said not showing a constant score graphic would likely reduce that during the 30-120 second ad windows.
