Vlandys wants to rotate grand finals around Australia whilst also retaining some in Sydney. That would be a massive financial boost for the game
Again, if you want states to bid, you need to allow ovals, otherwise it is just Sydney and Brisbane. Locals in Perth or Adelaide won;t know any better. Take the money and promote the game. This is one thing that the AFL can't do (MCG GF locked in until 2159).

liverpool is off the table

I wish they weren’t wasting any money on Accor and instead spent it on Campbelltown

win would need at least 100 million to finish off the two stands and that’s only if the dragons commit to playing 9 games there

I think Gus should use his mates to get belmore rebuilt. Gus has a lot of good connections and he could make an upgraded belmore a possibility

the dogs though do get good crowds at accor as it is even with their crap form now. South’s have done well at Homebush but it’s time to move back closer to home especially as the new sfs will probably be the best rugby league ground on earth

That’s a shame about Liverpool. The game really needs to start looking at joint stadium options.

Even though the dogs own land there it’s not really dogs territory and it isn’t tigers either. Wests next year have commmitted to playing 9 games out of Campbelltown so that’s a great step forward.

Accor is ok for the dogs. When they go well their crowds there were very good.

Origin at the G and the Dome is like masturbating with a cheese grater.

Slightly amusing, but mostly painful.
Have you been? I have and watching origin with a crowd of 100k people was amazing if you were a fair aus form the action. If we’re not using ovals does that mean no more gf at Accor as well?

Accor is a giant steaming turd of a stadium for club games. It’s the most depressing place I’ve been with 15k or less in it, and I’ve been to Some pretty grim grounds in my time! No wonder dogs can’t attract a decent crowd, I wouldn’t go there.

If we end up with Commbank, new SFS, new penrith, (done or confirmed) plus redeveloped brookvale, finished WIN and new SW stadium for Dogs and Tigers then that's a good win for the NRL clubs of NSW. Much better outcome than just Commbank and a new Accor.
Ideally we'd also see Shark park get 2 new stands and Newcastle get its ends but that might be a bit much $ wise.

2 new stands would be mad,
i think we will get a big new stand where the ET stand is now.

theyd then have to make some cash themselves or apply for more grants to do other fixes

The revised stadium plan had $810mill allocated to Accor. $300million ish of that is now going to new Penrith stadium. That leaves $510mill. That should be enough to sort out Brookvale, Shark Park and Win and still have the $120mill for Accors roof. The plan was supposed to be announced in December so not surprised NRL is getting frustrated and pulling out the GF card again.

That would only leave Dogs, Souths and Tigers without decent stadiums, presuming they stick to their current arrangements.

That's not what he actually wants though, he just wants more money from the NSW government.

Why else would this have to "presented to the NSW government"?

South’s to sfs. They will get massive crowds if they do

It needs to be done to put a rocket up the NSW government. If it needs to be done though, the threat needs to be followed through

You'd hope they will but I haven't seen anything to say they are?
They have plenty of fans in Western Sydney now but if they had reciprocal member agreements with Eels, tigers (at commbank) and Dogs then fans out there would still get good value out of a membership.

WA Govt is mega cashed up at moment, I could see a GF generating a lot more sports tourism than origin so I would expect they would go hard to lock in 2 or 3 over a decade. Could be a big money spinner for NRL.

The last thing I read they wanted to stay at accor

the move to Homebush helped them be financially stable but they have reached their potential there

I can’t believe they would turn down the chance to move to the new sfs with the corporate facilities they have and it’s closer to their centre of excellence too. It would take them to another level financially and imo increase their membership sales

Yeh you'd think it would be easier to attract the corporates in the city there for sure. Fans I'm not sure, depends where most of their current members are and where they think they can pick up new ones from. In the last ten years at Accor (pre covid) they have done pretty well crowd wise for such a sht experience stadium. 6 of those years were good crowds (over 16k avg) and only one really bad year (10k).

They did fan surveys and a lot of there fans are closer to accor

literally watching them on a Thursday night at accor game is such a mood killer

I think once they see how good the new ground is that will change their minds

they only moved out because the scg trust was charging them way more rent than the roosters. Now they have merged the scg trust and there aren’t separate managers anymore like last time offering cheaper rental deals

plus this time around south’s are a marquee tenant
