WHICH NSW government minister and friend of broadcaster Alan Jones is still trying to move funding for an ANZ Stadium redevelopment to his influential mates on the SCG Trust to instead build a new 65,000-seat stadium at Moore Park?

Obviously a grain of salt b/c of who wrote this, but still this has always been my concern since Baird quit. Let's hope the clubs & NRL are on the front foot in keeping them committed to ANZ.

I am admittedly ignorant to the Sydney landscape but does anyone that knows, think that a redeveloped ANZ and Parra stadium will really help boost crowds in Sydney? It would be nice to have Brisbane size crowds at least once a week in Sydney for a big match

you aren't going to get Brisbane sized crowds as they are 1 team in a city that's population is 2.31 million people

If new Parramatta stadium looks as good as pictures, and Anz gets closed for 2 years while being re-purposed

I'd expect Dogs and Tigers and eels to all use it for home games

With a modern all seat 30k stadium having maybe up to 36 games in a season .. I reckon dogs and tigers will struggle to move away from it .. even when anz is done

you have never been to a game so why bother pretending to care what they do to stadiums?

the only thing you want upgraded is the SCG boggers

Without pointing out the obvious, I believe it will be closed for the big events (Origin, GF's, finals) but as Suity said, the staged development will allow for club games.

So they are going to do an $800m Reno and keep it open?
As others have said, yes it will stay open while they do the reno. Basically I believe the aim is to do each side of the firld separately to allow the ground to remain open. Big events will be moved with it already being discussed that the grand final Will be played interstate.
