So, no plan yet?The Gabba is basically being rebuilt for the Olympics, Big events want to be at 50k venues.
So Accor either needs to be modernised or lose the events to the other states given new SFS is only 45k
Yeah his interview with the media was the biggest mistake in all this. Massive PR disaster that made him, and the sport, look like fools. He got the narrative very wrong in his argument, calling the Govt untrustworthy (doh!), accusing them of using the flood victims, then playing thew "think about the children' card saying these stadiums would benefit kids health, then attacks the stadium they have built, people are just laughing at him.
It's typical bull in a china shop Vlandys, ended up in court with NSWRL and this doesn't look like its going to have a good outcome for the game either with Govt or the public. Diplomat he is not.
I think the GF was contingent on the SA upgrade.Have the NSW government breached an actual contract here? The only thing I have read about is a handshake deal which has been modified in terms of a staged approach as opposed to a literal contract that says Sydney hosts the GF going forward.
Yep the nrlAnd the NRL could match that by saving $15 million of their own money. Set up an 'infrastructure budget portfolio', where the NRL could fund $30 million per year on suburban grounds and do the upgrades in stages.
gws got over 100 million spent on grounds for them no one batted an eye lidutter crap
we've been screwed as a sport by successive govts for 35 years on stadia going back to the old SFS
stuff who knows
the NRL has a right to a time line ...
As if there haven't been floods before or teachers on strike , nah
enough excuses & delays ... answers please you four eyed dip stick ... or else
So, no plan yet?
NSW govt is fkd....And people wonder why nrl struggles with govt funding compared to other codes! Having said that nsw does seem a special place where the govt doesn’t actually care about its main sport, unlike all the other states.
All garbage, as if its ALL going to the flood victims, its been budgeted, by the very same guy who was the treasurer, when Gladys signed the Accor 800 mill refurbishment,Except the public tide is against Vlandys so far, he’s come across as petulant and selfish. He’s never winning a battle for justifying the funding when the govt says it’s going to people in greater need. He compounded it with the gf threat, getting Sydney rl fans that might have been behind him offside, and it’s interesting to see how quickly he is backtracking on that already. Threatening to take the gf elsewhere looks a cash grab to your avg sydney fan, he could have at least justified it with what the nrl would use the extra money for. Then to top it all he made himself sound stupid by bringing childrens health into the debate!

Its a small percentage of the $2 billion the government are spending, they are reneging, and using the flood victims as an excuse, they'll be paying the victims regardless, its all spin and trying to use guilt as a tool, and you being the PVL hater you are, have been eating this media circus up... i hope PVL and the ARLC take the GF on the road, Optus stadium or NZ should get 1st crack at it, make that game the superbowl event, sydney can hold the rest of the finals
when I was there few weeks ago and hired a car to get to Wollongong I was amazed at the potholes, like being back in England!! Haven't see a pothole since I moved to Perth lol.NSW govt is fkd....
Ive lived in sydney my whole life, the govt is all about bumping their own salary, and taxing us moreso, but can't fix a fkn pothole, or has slackarse roadworks everywhere, to slow you down, like seriously, my mum live up in SEQ and the govt tends to all that stuff straight away, for a city that so laid back, brisbane or qld in general are right on in regards to public service, my sister lives in Brissy, says the roads are spot on, barely a few days before potholes or random roadwork ever gets in the way, takes sydney a month, to get shit done... and dont start me on public transport... each NRL club has a state of the art stadium, shows you the difference in the way all our states behave
of course it is, but the public sentiment I have seen so far is very much not with Vlandys! Its very hard to argue against the govt saying what they are saying, and it doesnt come across well. It has also painted them into a corner now as they cant move on it as they would look like they are taking money from flood victims! Its a dumb strategy and typical Vlandys. All garbage, as if its ALL going to the flood victims, its been budgeted, by the very same guy who was the treasurer, when Gladys signed the Accor 800 mill refurbishment,

No difference really, GF at suncorp last year made no difference.... Origin in Perth no difference, Magic round in Auckland, now Brissy... im not seeing a problem, Sydney doesn't deserve to have it right now, as it doesn't look after its clubs or stadia, its going cheap and trying to push all clubs to Commbank, Accor, or the new SFS, forget suburbian grounds, nswgovt couldn't give a shit, it would prefer to bump its own politicians salaryHaving it a different place every year won't work. Likely someone gets it for multiple years as it brings stability for Sponsors, Fans and all involved
You mean the same 9 that V'Landys gave a discount to due to "COVID" only to have them then go buy the Rugby rights? When V’landys finishes with the NSW Govt, I hope he turns his attention to 9 so get earlier start times for night games. 8:05pm on a Thursday doesn’t fill stadiums
I doubt the NSW govt ever thought tarting up suburban dumps owned by councils or private owners was a good spend, Vlandys gave them an out on the accor spend, they took it then played him like a fiddle. No difference really, GF at suncorp last year made no difference....
