Sharks would have to be willing to hand over a long term lease to the govt for that to happen.

With a top line CEO like Gorman, the Sharks will do what is best for the club, fans the Shire and the code.
That's all you have to worry about.

Already working on getting a Centre of Excellence at the stadium, which they own.Their updated stadium will ensue down the line.

yippee how have you gone so long without a centre of excellence? Is the coach going to do the tiling? lol Should be more concerned about putting a roof over the customers heads!

Nup, we'll get club/state and federal funding for a team that actually exists. How is your Cof E coming along?Scraping a few sea shells from the Indian Ocean, to make a wall? Fo a ground you don't own.

The C of E forms part of the Southern stand ,just for your edification. The same Southern Stand Peter Costello kindly contributed $10m toward.

Yes we have gone for so long .since 1967.It's nice to be involved with the major winter sport in Sydney.
How's your involvement with navel gazing in WA?

No coach is not into tiling. He is into demolition work, ie other NRL teams.Next question?

If true, and if it's not just Channel 9 stirring the pot, this would have far more to do with politics and egos and media personalities (I'm looking at you Alan Jones and Stuart Ayres) than it would have to do with fiscal policy or financial restraint.

cost blow out with the estimate of the ANZ refurb doubling to 1.6 Billion
meaning its in extreme doubt now

how the hell they could get the original costing so horribly wrong is beyond me
I dunno where sydneys stadia plan is now

i think Parramatta will go ahead as its started
but after that
who knows ....

For $1.6billion they'd be better off just building something completley new. f**k knows where though.

Come on mate, you're smarter than that.
Can't you see the bullshit in this? That's if it's true?

This absolutely smacks of SCG trust manoeuvrings to get the money for their stadium.

One thing in our favour is the timing of the next election in March 2019, it'd be very surprising if they abandoned a western Sydney project before such a tough election. The coalition will absolutely lose seats in 2019, just a question of how many.

Now to abandon a western Sydney infrastructure spend before then, in particular something which had support from the clubs, that'd take guts.

I'd kinda hope one outcome might be scaling back the size. Do we really need 70-75k? I'd be fine with 60k tbh, better atmosphere for the majority of games out there. Bigger isn't always better.

now the quote on ANZ refurb is $1.7m this smacks of SCG trust spin...

A new stadium doesnt even cost that much...

We dont even need all the bells and whistles, just sink the ground 3m and fix the pitch of seats to rectangle..

$400m would pull it up

They'd be better spending $600mill pulling down Allianz and building a 35k-40k modern stadium in its place for souths, Roosters, Tards, Dragons and Sydney fc to use. f**k anz and its sht atmosphere. Leave it for the big events.
Bulldogs, eels, Wests and wanderers into the western Sydney stadium.
4-5 tenants in each stadium is good return for the tax payers money.
the outer fringe clubs can plod along in their suburban grounds.

Souths don't want to play in the east. Their fans have mostly long since left the area.

Perhaps a good economic model could get the dragons to play some games there but it would only be 5-6, Bruce Gordon wants them down in Wollongong if he's to pay off their debt.

A new stadium in the east does virtually nothing for Rugby League, it would be an absolute failure for our code.

you don't go to games so why would you give a f**k where it's built?

if it was built in your backyard you still wouldn't go

I haven't seen you and Cumberland Throw on here at the same time. Is he your alter ego and are you having conversations with yourself?

Yawn!!
Meaning you have to show a bit of humility, to get the respect you are desperately seeking. This coming from a guy ,who appears to not know how to handle money within budgets.
If the NRL worked on your financial input, the comp would shrivel and AFL would gather in further disillusioned rl fans.
But of course you still have car racing as a fall back.

Probably complete construction, well before you finish eternal whining.Does 5 -10years sound feasible?Knowing Gorman based on his efforts, it could happen much sooner. We'll keep you posted, appreciate your genuine concern.

Stage 2 of the development ,with the higher waterfront view tower is coming along nicely.Membership now over 15,100 (a record)and growing so far.
