The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

And you need to be a little more analytical before getting all outraged!

I'd argue the main benefit of so called home ground advantage is in having the majority of the fans behind you, cheering you on and badgering the ref for decisions. Not the physical venue.
Now if your playing at another stadium where the majority of the fans attending are yours do you really lose much in 'home ground advantage'? I'd suggest not.
The arguments tossed around for playing at a dilapidated suburban ground instead of a state of the art stadium are so ridiculous I don't even bother addressing them.

If clubs did the smart thing and made Parramatta Stadium and the SFS their regular home ground then we wouldn't get this debacle every September. Crowds would also increase and clubs would be more profitable. But "history" and "tradition" and "the vibe" must win out according to some.

In my opinion the whole Australian practice of sporting teams expecting the taxpayer to fully fund venues needs to end. The AFL is much worse than the NRL in that regard. Clubs like the Tigers etc need to ditch the archaic leagues club ownership model and get proper private capital into the club.

It's a shame that this proposal for Souths to build their own stadium never happened:

Don't forget 'tribalism and being able to walk to the ground" lol. I mean seriously how many people does Vlandys think can walk to the ground? Such a joke.

TBF in most cities, in fact in them all except Sydney!, the Govt is sensible and only builds world class stadiums with multiple tenants that can host multiple events. There by being a genuine asset for the city and reaping a half decent return on investment.
There is no where in the world that would expect a Govt to build and maintain 7 stadiums in one city, let alone pump hundreds of millions into venues that it doesn't even own and run lol.

Again you couldn't be more wrong. Have you ever played a sport in your life? It has very little to do with the fans. It is about playing on a ground they are familiar with. A ground they play on 12 times a year and train on every day. It makes a huge difference having familiar surroundings - from the grandstands to the grass on the pitch.

Where do you think their opponents would rather play the game? Not Shark Park that's for sure. It's just unfortunate it only holds 12K this year.

Reckon in his spare time V'Landys logs on to LU, fires up this thread, finds what @Get Rid of The Donkeys and @Perth Red have been pissing their pants about and does the opposite of what they bleat about just for shits and giggles.

Finals at old suburban grounds. Check
No team in Perth. Check

Then moves on to introducing another pointless big money race to the Sydney spring carnival just to watch the Victorian racing fraternity fume a bit more. The big prankster.

The interesting question is where will sharks play a potential week 2 or 3 home final against chooks?

This is a reasonable chance of happening this season IMO. One would think they would want to avoid the SFS.

You don't know Sydney. Makes no sense for non parra teams to play there. Likewise at sfs. Let teams renovate there own grounds. Bulldogs were looking at belmore. Panthers could surely afford to upgrade stands there. Tigers raised 100 million from various sources for performance center

I think it will still be at the SFS if they meet.
I mean look at the colour of the seating there, it suits the Sharks more than the Roosters! Haha.
Seriously though, I personally think it should be at The SFS.

He’s clearly never played a sport or understands home ground advantage.

Essendon, Hawthorne, Carlton, St Kilda, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Footscray and Collingwood do alright playing out of two centralised stadia. There's nothing special about Melbourne that prevents Sydney's RL clubs from doing it.

Sydney's clubs would go bust if they didn't get an annual grant of $15m. There's no way they'll ever be able to build a stadium that resembles Lang Park, Parramatta Stadium or the SFS.

They call Queenslanders "hillbillies", yet most of Sydney's clubs play out of glorified parks that aren't fully seated. Queensland's clubs play out of fully seated stadia. Even Dolphin Oval is more modern despite being built for a Queensland Cup club!
