No they didn’t, the tigers cofe was funded mainly by the nsw govt, local council and private investors.
Where have souths and bulldogs talked about building their own stadiums? Link? There isnt one modern stadium in australia funded and built by a club.

Tigers could make commbank home and the crowds would grow there as people got used to it being their home ground. Throw in the massively better corporate sales potential and it’s a no brainer really. Add in reciprocal memberships with eels, bulldogs and souths and your guaranteeing big crowds for those games for a busted club playing like dogsht.

Can't believe the Tigers knocked down the two grandstands at Concord and continue to play games at Leichhardt which only has one...

If we'd have been smart we would have kept the Concord stands and put the Centre of Excellence behind one of the goalposts like Manly did. Pascoe is such a useless dribbler...
Always thought Concord was a good location. On a major a road and close to rail as well as retail district

It is not something restricted to Australian sports. Have a look, for example, at the NFL in the US. Clubs have turn over in the hundreds of millions of dollars a yerrar, yet many play at stadiums either partially or totally funded by Government.

The difference is NFL clubs threaten to move to another city if taxpayers don't build their stadium, and NFL teams have a huge impact on the economy and tourism for some cities. Good luck getting the NSW govt to cave when Manly threatens to move to Adelaide.

Gifted would be a better description, so come on genius tell us where these clubs are going to “raise” the $150-200mill these grounds need spending in them given nsw govt has said no more.

State government contributed less than 10 million to tigers.

The other thing is, previous management of the Wests Tigers admitted they did not earn anywhere near as much money playing at Leichhardt Oval due to its lack of corporate facilities. Fact is people woujld not pay corporate rates to sit in the open air box, or the tight fit of the Latchem Robinson Stand with a "heat" bag containing luke warm pies. Without $, no professional rugby league club is going to be able to compete on the field.

Heck Souths moved to Stadium Australia as, financially, it made the most sense for them.

You just can't replicate the experience of a slash in the Glenn Morrison toilets...

I agree that the Tigers should nominate CommBank as their one home ground for the time being but each team should be striving for their own all-seated home ground. If the Super League can do it why can't we. Sick of being compared to the AFL just because it's in the same country, we should be drawing inspiration from international best practice not the most lopsided, comical sport in the world.

Where is it international best practice for more than 50% of your comp being from the same city?

London has about 30% of the EPL, but its also got a population of 9m.

If we are going to be drawing from international best practice, that'd mean getting rid of a few Sydney sides which would solve a big part of the stadium problem.

It's not that close to rail mate. Walk it from Burwood Station it will take you longer than 45 minutes. Also Burwood Road can be like a car park even on weekends as it goes right past Westfield.

It's not a 45 minute walk. More like 15. Like I said will get metro station right next door to new center.

You know EPL has promotion & relegation & London has many soccer clubs?!

How do Leichhardt & belmore crowds this year compare to their other home games?! Exactly
haha tigers have played their two biggest drawing games against local rivals at LO this year for an avg crowd of 14.1k. And you think this is a good example of how popular suburban grounds are?? Comparable games at commbank have drawn around the same so there really isn’t much difference, except tigers can sell much better corporate facilities and fans get a better experience. Their other suburban ground, Campbelltown, crowds have been woeful.
