The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Genius, broncos pool of fans from all over Brisbane. Nothing like Sydney situation. Get fans exclusive from one area & having team play outside that area is recipe for death.
Don't need parramatta stadium level venues. Look at Brentford stadium in EPL. Look at craven cottage. Club could easily fund new stands.

Bullshit. Rabbitohs wouldn't draw shit at Stadium Australia if all their fans lived in Redfern and refused to travel.

Tigers have drawn some good crowds at Parramatta Stadium.

Where are these clubs going to get the money from?

Without the annual grant they wouldn't be able to field a team in the NRL.

Not even the Broncos could afford their ownnstsdiu

Who cares what you think. Without Sydney teams & their traditions NRL wouldn't exist. We saw that with super league

The only reason the NRL exists is because of Super League.

Super League drew higher attendances than ARL in 1997. Tradition and history didn't mean shit in 1997 as Adelaide drew larger crowds than most Sydney clubs.

Without pokies the NSWRL clubs wouldn't exist and would never have been in a position to turn the NSWRL into the national competition. Thank the NSW Gov for legalising gaming machines in licenced venues in 1956. Queensland Gov didn't legalise gaming machines until the 1990s.

Ha

haha tigers have played their two biggest drawing games against local rivals at LO this year for an avg crowd of 14.1k. And you think this is a good example of how popular suburban grounds are??

Yeah, but they draw less at homebush, parra etc. Haha

Not for every game, they are actually very comparable when you compare like for like. So nothing lost but much to gain. Commbank gives them the best opportunity to grow attendances and corporate sales, something LO and Campbelltown will never be able to do.

I mean last year they drew 24k at Accor then the following week drew 9k at LO Then next home game ws at commbank where they drew 14k.

Attendances mean shit. Broadcasting rights are everything. Sydney TV market is all that matters. Why did Murdoch come running back?!

Loser trying to put words in my mouths. Never said club could build sfs or parra stadium.

Like I said even this year against their two biggest local rivals they only avg’d 14k at LO. Sure on a perfect Sunday afternoon against a team that brings a few thousand they can get 19k at LO, but they are very few and far between and they could easily be seeing crowds of that size regularly at commbank with some hard work and bit of success. And that’s before we talk about the corporate sales opportunities, which brings in more money than fans, at commbank compared to LO which are a joke.

bullodgs biggest crowd of this year was not at BElmore, despite its nostalgic novelty factor.

Not to be all high and mighty.

But Commbank is definitely Parramatta's ground. If other teams like the Bulldogs and Tigers start using it regularly then that is their call of course and it would serve 'a purpose'. But as a Parramatta fan I would just consider them to be borrowing our ground.

Its over mate. Draw less at those fancy new stadiums & homebush on TV makes game look shit. Ur whole argument has failed

You know EPL has promotion & relegation & London has many soccer clubs?!

Sure does, and in the top 3 divisions there are only 10 London clubs. Below that their ground capacity is under 10k (not exactly the 'best practice' we should be aiming for). So a city with nearly double our population has 1 more team than us. And that's the only sporting competition in the world I can think of. Not exactly following international best practice.

But they don’t draw less lol. And they offer the potential the suburban grounds will never afford.
I agree it’s over, you’d have to be pretty myopic to not see the potential playing at commbank offers over playing at LO!

It's not a 45 minute walk. More like 15. Like I said will get metro station right next door to new center.

Yeah when the metro station is built and the metro is operating. It is no where near ready, so what I stated is factually correct. I grew up in the area so I know wtf I'm talking about thanks. I'm in my early 50s and have lived in Sydney my whole life.

If the market was strong enough for 50% of EPL clubs to be based in London then they would be, as the promotion and relegation system favours clubs that have the most resources. Bring in a similar system here and the nine Sydney clubs would find themselves relegated within a few years.

It's not that close to rail mate. Walk it from Burwood Station it will take you longer than 45 minutes. Also Burwood Road can be like a car park even on weekends as it goes right past Westfield.

The walk from Burwood station to Concorde Oval is only a 20 minute walk not 45 minutes, i have done it a few times to watch Shute Shield matches. Granted though i wouldn't say it is close to rail and its not a pleasant walk along Burwood Rd and then Parramatta Rd.
