So I'd assume you don't support a Sydney club if you don't understand the rivalry or tribalism as you call it. There's nothing better than watching a derby against a traditional rival at a traditional ground imo. Everyone is getting worked up about these whiz bang new stadiums. At the end of the day you're still sitting in a plastic seat and paying $10 for a beer and about $15 for a pie and chips. If I want comfort I stay at home. The average punter is at a stadium for about 2 hours and I'm there for the atmosphere not for a new plastic seat and a shiny toilet. Yes many Sydneysiders are insular and couldn't be arsed travelling an hour or two to a game. Again that is their choice.

Spare me the whole authenticity argument. Next you’ll tell me that because I don’t follow one of the Sydney clubs, I follow a ‘plastic’ club.

Also, simple economics: the less people that go to a game, the less support the club has and the less money that club receives. That’s what matters however way you want to spin it: the amount of support a club has

Parramatta have their headquarters at Kellyville where they are building their CoE and community hub. They are just an anchor tenant at Commbank like Coles or Woolies at a Shopping Centre.

Don't know what you're on about tbh. I don't give a rat's who you follow but I assume it's not a Sydney club. Sorry you took offence to that. At the end of the day TV ratings and hence TV revenue pays the bills and wages not bums on seats.

It does at the moment but why wouldn’t any club not look for ways to become self sufficient or expand their supporter base? Sorry if I came a little harsh myself. I don’t want any club to struggle that’s all

Your club for example, is there a plan to upgrade the stadium beyond the 18k? The government at this point in time don’t look like they are going ahead with funding of further upgrades

Without stadium funding the best the Sharks can hope for is a centre of excellence which would incorporate some additional corporate facilities. They have chosen to pump over 30 million to a sparkling new leagues club which will open mid next year. This combined with the restaurant precinct and the adjoining hotel are the reason why the Sharks will never move from Shark Park. Despite PR's death riding we are in better shape than most Sydney clubs both on and off the field. Our jumper and short sponsors are sold out for the next 3 years and we recently purchased Kareela golf club and have two other investments in the pipeline. Will it allow us to do massive upgrades on our stadium? Hell no but it will make us profitable beyond the current Nrl grants moving forward.

What about games that can potentially draw a large attendance? Would the club ever consider moving some of their games?

Other than semi-finals I doubt it. The loyalty appears to be the members and other that an annual home game at Coffs I don't see it happening. Once the capacity is back to 18k next year that will only be at capacity against a few Sydney clubs. The idea is that the punters get to experience a full afternoon/evening at the footy by using the surrounding facilities and the restaurant precinct as well as the new leagues club.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'd forgotten about it, mainly because I don't drive to WSS - take the train with the station on the other side of the ground, and I don't drink at the club pre or post game, rather go to a pub. I wouldn't spend money at the club.
Surely that’s the point, if you really dislike the eels just don’t go to the LC lol. Having your team play at commbank doesn’t come with an obligation to park at or use the eels LC! There’s a lot of food and drinks options on way to stadium.
The great thing with the led lighting these days is they can light up the stadium in any clubs colours. I didn’t see anything else at commbank that screamed eels home stadium. There’s a reason it’s called western sydney stadium!

Bulldogs and Tigers can just build some Leagues clubs in retaliation

Problem is you are in a minority, as can be proven by crowds at these traditional grounds for most games. Times move on and people expect more than a grass hill and a meat pie in the 21st century.
eels getting 20k plus crowds is showing what can be possible, and we haven’t even really started trying to significantly boost crowds yet.
I defy anyone who was at the eels v panthers game I was at a few weeks ago to tell me that tribalism is diminished in a new stadium and that 28k in commbank isn’t a better experience and look for the game than 15k at a suburban ground.

Most people are in that boat. Club officials though look at all that sort of stuff

You give club boards too much credit! if you can’t make playing at commbank more profitable than playing at dumps like LO or Campbeltown you really shouldn’t be running a club.

Every team has jersey number sponsors, Smaller corporates most are local businesses. Why the hell would Joe's plumbing based at Campbelltown be after business in Parramatta?

So what benefit is it for sponsors like that to be at Parra in the space as several other businesses?

I have explained the dogs sponsor having a pub just outside Accor.

What is better for him? People eating at the locker room or eating in some random Pub in Parramatta?

Ok so you are saying the Donkeys make more than 2 million dollars profit every game day? Evidence please.
I didn’t say profit, I said revenue. Last pre covid year they earnt $16.9mill from game day sales plus $1.6mill merch sales. same year they got $13.5mill grant from nrl.
If you can get REALLY popular like afl clubs you can triple that! 2019 WC Eagles earnt $40.5mill from game day activity and $6mill in merch sales. NRL clubs aren’t even scratching the surface yet of what they could earn.
