So I'd assume you don't support a Sydney club if you don't understand the rivalry or tribalism as you call it. There's nothing better than watching a derby against a traditional rival at a traditional ground imo. Everyone is getting worked up about these whiz bang new stadiums. At the end of the day you're still sitting in a plastic seat and paying $10 for a beer and about $15 for a pie and chips. If I want comfort I stay at home. The average punter is at a stadium for about 2 hours and I'm there for the atmosphere not for a new plastic seat and a shiny toilet. Yes many Sydneysiders are insular and couldn't be arsed travelling an hour or two to a game. Again that is their choice.

Also, simple economics: the less people that go to a game, the less support the club has and the less money that club receives. That’s what matters however way you want to spin it: the amount of support a club has
