Thats good about Sunshine Coast

nrl needs to be getting more money from the Olympic infrastructure budget spent on rectangular grounds since the afl is getting a massive benefit with the Gabba rebuild

16k for Sunshine Coast is perfect for the dolphins now their home ground needs an upgrade to a similar capacity if not 20k

there’s nothing else planned from the Olympic spend in regards to rectangular stadiums. I was hoping to see Suncorp increased to 65k or a decent 20k-25k secondary stadium built in brisbane south but alas not.

Toowoomba's Clive Berghofer Stadium is supposed to be upgraded for the 2032 Olympics too but there's no word on when the upgrades start yet

It's almost 10 years away, so might be a little premature to call it.

Will be of not much use one way or the other until the NSW state election. Labor had a policy of not updating any stadia but not sure if that is still the case under their current leader.
It'll be hard to justify wasting any more money on stadia in Sydney when many of the tax payers from rural NSW are now homeless. These poor folk were forced to fund Parramatta Stadium and the SFS.

With a budget of billions you can spend money on infrastructure that will aid economic growth and jobs as well as on the homeless and rural communities. But not apparently if is to invest in stadia for rugby league clubs in sydney? The donkey is seriously unhinged. This man desperately needs help.

Hope so

ballymore is getting 30 million too and that’s privately owned by the the qru

I can’t see Suncorp getting anything but the smaller grounds should all put their hand out

with two rugby league tenants I wonder if a Suncorp rebuild is on the cards in a decade or so

when it was built it was far and away the best rugby league ground in the world. Now it’s slipped behind three other grounds

certainly if south west qld gets another team then a new Suncorp would be required

Gil will get the commonwealth games gig and focus on building afl appropriate stadia. Rectangle fields will be second in line. Just watch.

Brisbane could do with a 20k-25k ish stadium for Roar and future firehawks admission.

Broncos, Dolphins (10 games) and Reds at Suncorp
Roar and Firehawks at southern city stadium

This part sums up the folly of Sydney RL fans saying their nine small NRL clubs are equal to to Melbourne's eight AwFuL clubs.

Livingstone compared RSL Tasmania’s decision to quit pokies with the situation in the AFL, where several football clubs have removed machines years ago while others rely on them for millions of dollars in revenue.

“There are precedent for this with football clubs in Victoria, including the Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong and Melbourne – they’ve all got out of pokies, as they don’t see it as compatible with their priorities and goals as family-oriented organisations,” he said.

A viable football club doesn't need to rely on anti-social practices such as gambling.

Three of Melbourne's eight AwFuL clubs generate enough revenue from football operations to remove gaming machines from their licenced venues.

Broncos and Cowboys earn enough from football operations to not need revenue from gaming machines, but probably feel the need to use them after the NSWRL clubs used this revenue stream to kill the BRL.

On p8 of Cowboys Leagues 2021 annual report it says the club has reduced the amount of gaming machines in its venue:

The 2021 year marked the Cowboys Leagues Club’s 20th full year of trading operations at the Flinders Street site. The club’s main source of income is gaming revenue which is driven by 237 poker machines. The club is currently approved to operate 298 poker machines and has acquired entitlements for 261. To adhere to Health Regulations and for the comfort of its patrons, the Club has reduced the number of machines on floor to 165.

Kawana will probably get a good upgrade. I can't see Redcliffe being part of the Olympic plans though. The QLD govt will want to show off Sunshine Coast, not so much Redcliffe.
