Olympic plan is already announced, unless there is radical changes for some reason we arent getting much for rectangular stadium development sadly

It's not really warranted for Olympic events unfortunately.

Rugby 7s and Soccer is about it.

For mine, QLD with only 4 teams is well served by Lang Park, Robina and Townsville.

How permenant are the dolphins new stands? Was very short sighted to spend the Money taking it to 12k in way they did, maybe there is a way to at lest turn one of the side stands into a proper stand with corporates and a roof and 5k more seating?

In outer suburbia a 17k stadium will probably do them. They’ll never be a big fan based club if they play most of their games in Redcliffe. Think manly For what Redcliffe based club looks like.

With the population of nth qld 300 million plus on a stadium was generous

let see some of that trickle down for Sunshine Coast and redcliffe (20 to 50 million each)

Generous?? It's actually what should have been done in the first place.

I don't know if you know a lot about the history but the old NQ stadium cost the state gov less than $25mil (1984 original trotting track configuration and then the upgrades after 2004 when the ground was handed back to the state gov). A lot of the original 1995 RL config was paid for and built by locals donating time, money, resources and people to get the whole thing ready for the cowboys first season..

Then the stands on the top of the northern and southern stands were built by the cowboys SL money in 1997 and so was the bitumen sealing of the car parks. Not all of what was there was actually paid for by the state gov back in the day.

It's alright for the Gold Coast to get a $200mil stadium for a club that has had 4 goes at "getting it right" and still can't get their shit in a pile on and off the field. NQ is a RL heartland and has proven time and time again it deserves a stadium of the caliber that was built.

The amount of money that is generated in NQ from mining and farming, the magnificent bastard in the CBD was the least the state and feds could do for the people of NQ.

Population wise yes gold cost getting 200 million makes more sense than the Taj Mahal you got

lol

it’s probably the second best rugby league stadium now

let’s see some of that love spreading to redcliffe and Sunshine Coast for dolphins nrl games

population wise it was probably a waste of money, what was their average crowd last year? 13k for a city of 500k, that is honestly pretty shitful.

I'm 100% not against the Sunny Coast or Redcliffe getting coin for upgrades but I think you're being harsh about NQ's digs.

I love your new stadium it’s amazing

just saying let the qld govt throw some coin for the dolphins grounds cause they need it

titans will get their crowds back to the 20k ish they got at first but it’s a grind

Brisbane lacks the mid tier crowd stadiums, If an event is expected to get 20k there is no option but to use a half full Gabba or Suncorp

Yeh Suncorp is too big for the roar and the reds

Ballymore revamped would work for both

the roars crowds at redcliffe are poor

Far too much of northern Queensland's wealth is funnelled into SEQ. It's unfair and prevents the state from reaching its potential.

The game needs to stop taking Origin to Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Give Adelaide and Perth teams of their own so they can have 12 matches in each city per year.

Go back to the old system of having Queensland host two in year one, then have a couple in NSW in year two. When Queensland hosts two games play the third one in Townsville. When NSW hosts two play the third in Newcastle. Watching a rugby league game at an oval is a terrible experience.

To play Game 3 at Townsville or Newcastle consistently is an interesting statement from someone who harps on incessantly about "maximising game day revenue"

On your long list of stupid ideas this is the by far the worst.

The NRL could say to the state government that it will take Tests and origin games and womens Origin and tests to Newcastle if the state injects another $100m into the stadium and make it 40k. That is a good idea.
I don't know if the state government would care enough to go ahead with it but it is still a good idea. The state government has got to represent Newcastle as well as Sydney. Getting travel from Sydney to Newcastle has to be good for the state.

Playing Origin in perth, melbourne and Adelaide brings millions of more $’s into the game than playing it at other venues can bring. 60k tickets at above premium prices plus $5-10million from the state govt. it’s a cash cow the nrl should continue milking.

test matches, all stars and nines are the events the nrl should be using to leverage development of improved stadia in places like Auckland, canberra, Wollongong and newcastle.

some of us are just gifted with foresight :)

but yeh if you can point me to one outer suburb club that is drawing 18-20k plus crowds ona. Regular basis please do tell. Maybe I’m wrong in my assumption that somehow this one would be different To all the rest?

Why do you think it's a good thing to price the average Queenslander and New South Welshman out of attending one-third of these games?

Many of the people who attend the games in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth fly in from Queensland and NSW. The cost of travel and accommodation would be well beyond anything the average person from Queensland and NSW could afford.

How many families from regional Queensland and NSW are able to attend an Origin game that's played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney?

It's boneheaded stupid to deny the bulk of children from regional Queensland and NSW from expericing the pinnacle of rugby league when AwFuL is throwing millions of dollars on junior development in both states. Thanks to short-sighted morons like you our biggest competitor is finding it easier to convert the current generation of kids to fumbleball. Participation rates for fumbleball have increased in FNQ and northern NSW.

You do not care about the long-term benefits of building a new generation of fans.

All care about is squeezing more money out of cashed up baby boomers.
