It would help but chances of sharks being a consistent top four team are nil to zero. So what else you going to do to grow your fanbase? Your kidding yourself if you think a modern stadium isn't going to help you or manly or Penrith grow your paying fanbase. It's not the only variable but certainly is a significant one. Your 14k crowd drops to sub 10k when it rains, there's a reason for that. Look at the great atmosphere at belmore, nothing to do with a grass hill, everything to do with a packed out venue, you put that crowd in a 20k roofed stadium and the noise and atmosphere would have been even more incredible. That's how you get people off their backsides and away from their tv's.
mate people get wet in most stadiums when it rains...I've seen pics of people soaked at Wembley FFS ..how much did that cost again???

the point is ....there is no way 6 new stadiums are going to be built in Sydney.
You're dreaming.

You poor bastards can't even get the NRL to put one footy team in a one team state.

Imagine how good they'd go at getting the Government to sign off on a billion bucks worth of stadiums.

Yet here you are waffling on about soccer stadiums in Europe that you think will prove your point.

I agree with you, not because it is a totally unrealistic vision but because the current dumb nrl approach to the Sydney stadium issue means there is no vision of drive for it. Why the NRL thinks the answer to the stadium issues are a 65k Moore park Allianz replacement and upgraded parra stadium is beyond me. IF the NRL actually told the nsw govt it would no longer use ANZ for clubs games and that it expected support to development of boutique stadiums at the venues mentioned and that min criteria would be introduced that would mean Sydney was at risk of losing clubs I think you would see a very different range of possibilities open up. At the moment there is zero reason for nsw govt to assist replacement of Brookie or shark park. They want to chuck hundreds of millions at stadiums that are actually fit for purpose for big events whilst leaving the clubs to wither and die in run down facilities. That is failing of clubs, nrl and nsw govt.

At new stadiums you might get 20% of seats past the drip line as opposed to 80% at old grounds. That's the difference in deciding if to take the family in the rain to a seat you'll stay dry in or standing on a Hill in the rain. The new Perth stadium will have 85% of seats inside the drip line.

I agree the 65k moore park thing is not the go as a solution. In fact those peddling it in the media are just shameless morons, with no intention but that of lining their own pockets and playing their power games in the boardroom.

But i will say that there is more barriers than the NSW gov't to making what you say happen. There are dozens of local councils in the sydney metro region with the "suburban grounds" spread across them. Most of these councils have their share of NIMBY Councillors and types that don't want anything built never mind a stadium. Plus add into the mix that unless a ground exists near current mass transport and parking options then the chances of a new build having direct transport links in the suburbs is very limited.

The most likely solution i can see in sydney is Parra getting its expected upgrade in capacity and the rest of the decisions floundering for several years in high level power games between the government and stadia authorities. Just too many interests and self interest conflicting for this to end well imo.

Article today about the new Townsville stadium, doesn't say much except it's the top priority for their new Cowboys CEO.

For anyone interested in the development of nib stadium and the future plans to develop it to 25k capacity here is the master plan.

http://www.vincent.wa.gov.au/files/...0a73f00/nib_Stadium_Management_plan_-_sml.pdf

Thanks, it'll look awesome when it's done. Hopefully the NRL can help push along the development of the Western Stand as part of the WCP entry.

The historic pics were pretty interesting too.

Really, you still want to be this slow publicly? You obviously are playing games here, or else you have real problems. If so I apologise sincerely and suggest maybe a better option for you could be a game like tick tack toe my friend.

But if you are merely being a dick.

Work it out for yourself genius.

So the fact remains for your edification, there were a hell of a lot of people(thousands) on the Belmore hill.
Not being anything other than making a point to PR,and you stuck your mug in playing the hero.

And FYI I want the NRL to have stadiums not involving hills.

There you go, that is what happens when you mix white seats with green seats. Don't ever go the mixed race seating!

If they had a hill there'd be plenty of room to escape and nothing to light on fire .
Poor design .

That is so beautiful.
Look at the nature .
A beer in one hand, a pie in the other surrounded by mates and a game of footy to watch
Paradise !

If it is paradise why ain't the suburban grounds selling out if that's the case. If supporters love the hill so much why ain't they packing em out week in and week out. No other sports fan in other sports would accept to sit on a hill to view there sport, they prefer a proper professional stadium. Even worse, when it becomes wet and sub 10k crowds show up in the proclaimed heartland of the game.

Aleast, the Cowboys got the right idea with the proposed super-stadium. When it eventuates QLD would have the most professional stadiums in rugby league with Suncorp, Robina and the super-stadium. Compared to the suburban grounds suited for a pub sport not a professional sport.
