Penrith is closer to the new airport than Campbelltown. Just sayin'Long term for the Tigers, is a Campbelltown 20,000 seat stadium, to cater for the fast growing south west and the 2nd airport.

Just gotta find a lazy $200m to build it. I don't see any govt soon committing to a stadium in outer Sydney.
Panthers should make moves to develop suppor in the South West. I hate this idea that each area can have only one team, i prefer some competition...
The freeways and public transport for the WS airport will be great for a cambbeltown to Penrith/blacktown trip
Shove your 'econmics' up your ass champ. You've taken my post in totally the wrong way.
I'm not saying the cowboys don't deserve a stadium, I'm saying that the business case for a $300m stadium for one team is terrible economics. Terrible ROI for taxpayers.
Most stadiums are, but single use stadiums are even worse.
Honestly I'm happy for the cowboys and rugby league to get the stadium, just pointing out the economics of it.
I made the same economic case for Parramatta stadium. $300m spend for a stadium built for only 2 teams. Other NRL clubs will be reluctant to use it as its in another's teams territory. I mean it's just around the corner from Parra leagues.
Should've been built in a more neutral area to attract 1 or 2 more NRL clubs.

Blows my mind how much stadiums are costing these days. We had to bust our arses to get 50mil for our stadium in Newcastle, and it came up fairly well - and now the price has gone up by a factor of 6 in 10 years? Are the seats gold plated now or did we just get a shitty stadium?

Did both stands in Newscastle only cost $50m combined? That's bloody good value.
Obviously the cost of living will make up some of the difference but that seems a huge gap.
What are the views like from the stands in Newcastle? Are they steep like Suncorp?

Cambeltown is a problem for a few reasons; there is no proper CBD (its basically a huge suburb) so placing the stadium is a problem, they are likely to be the only team down there so funding a new stadium is a log shot at best and attracting players to a team based out in the sticks could be a problem...
I think its a better option for them to focus on junior development and fan engagment in the area, trying to convince fans to travel to somewhere like Parra or Liverpool for the game.
We can base teams in every suburb, so teams need to find somewhere central that can accomodate several areas of sydney...
It will never happen given the majority of Tigers supporters are old Balmain fans. Campbelltown havnt really ever taken to a rugby league team. The tigers definitely need more of a presence out there, but they won't completely abandon their Leichhardt heritage.

Steep stands, good views. It's not "fancy" but our area isn't marginal so would never get "fancy". You can get a beer and pie, Take a piss and watch footy. Not sure where the other 250mil needs to be spent.
And we still have a hill to sit on which is awesome. We get the best of both worlds. I'm kind of glad that we didn't get a boutique stadium, I love the stadium in Newcastle as is.
