Eh? Bigger crowds and better games when it’s pssing it down. Thought thatd be pretty obvious.
How many roofed stadiums they got now? One. But rich of them to demand roofs when it is an outdoor sport.

Add a bit of wind, and Australian architects inability to understand drip lines and half the crowd still get wet.
Roof is only way of guaranteeing 100% stay dry.
Growing up watching winter rugby on the terraces of northern england it seems ridiculous to me but times are changing and people are more precious, and tbf what prof. sport charges to attend these days you should expect to at least not get pssing wet through At games.

I'm fine with a roof. Great idea.

But first priority is make it a proper rectangular ground with proper rake on the stands.

Then build a roof design to suit.

The fact that Sydney doesn't have a national rectangular stadium is a joke. It's the same as if cricket insisted Wembley be oval to suit them.

Accor needs to be reconfigured to be rectangular with proper rake on the stands. Leaving it oval means it will forever be shit.
Which isn’t possible unless they tear it down and start again which will be well over 1 billion

should’ve been sold for apartments and allianz done at 60k

people prefer going to the city than homebush

the ideal would’ve been a ground in the cbd but with the light rail allianz does the job

homebush will always feel like a ghost town

It will be more of a ghost town during roosters home games at 60k, but atleast with a roof and other teams wanting to play there instead of suburban grounds nearby

Isn't Olympic Park built one of the most polluted sites in the Southern Hemisphere?

Don't underestimate how much of a win for RL is Tony Shepherd going away. He has always been a RL hater even tho he masks as a Roosters fan on occasions.

Something has to happen for Accor, a permanent rectangular lower tier at a minimum.

Just spitballing, what if... NRL comes into an agreement with State and purchases a stake in Accor Stadium. Part of the deal being the refurb of the venue to a permanent rectangle.

Tony shepherd, Barry collies and the rest of the fumble ball scum in Sydney should be thrown in the back of a semi and punted down the Hume from where they came.

absolutely ridiculous that Olympic Stadium wasn't converted to rectangle in 2002 like it was supposed to be
Mike Fitzpatrick was the main man behind Stadium Australia being made available for AFL (as well as Cricket later on) post Olympics. Still at least the retractable seating at Accor today is way better than the system at the AFL owned Docklands Stadium which apparently takes days to maneuver the seating areas into position and then blocks off a few thousand seats on level 1 from being used.

I highly doubt the current government would sell off even a stake of an asset that they own to a private company after the campaign they had during the election of "No more Privatization". Not sure if that included stadiums as well as essential services

I don't mind Olympic Park, lots easier to get to for me (coming from Newcastle). There are enough places to eat.

Some more residential development will tip it over the edge to having more of a vibe.

Needs a big crowd to be decent in the ground though, that stadium is just so terrible.
