I keep hearing about the sewer main. Surely that can be built over the top of, how wide could it be?
It's stopped development at that end in the past.

Probably impacts depth of foundations which would impact stand size, maybe need for access if there’s damage to it as well?I keep hearing about the sewer main. Surely that can be built over the top of, how wide could it be?
I imagine it probably limits the amount of weight that can be put over it and the amount of excavation that is possible for foundations. Probably not a critical issue though, for a 25K stadium you don’t need big two-tiered end standsI keep hearing about the sewer main. Surely that can be built over the top of, how wide could it be?
Was cost an issue? Sounds like a ridiculous thing to stop a building. It's stopped development at that end in the past.
If it’s a major sewage line it would cost millions to excavate and move it, which will come out of the stadium build budget. It’s also a major logistical headache as they sewer line would need to be shut down and bypassed during the operation. Was cost an issue? Sounds like a ridiculous thing to stop a building.
Or sink piers either side and bridge it. That's why I'm asking, how wide could it be?If it’s a major sewage line it would cost millions to excavate and move it, which will come out of the stadium build budget.
Yeah honestly I don’t know. You’d think they could but I’m not an engineerOr sink piers either side and bridge it. That's why I'm asking, how wide could it be?
I did cut and paste it. Download bypass paywalls if you don't believe me.

Cmon just admit you buy the Tele we won’t hold it against youSomeone left a hard copy of the Sunday Telke at the cafe this morning, so I read the column myself. I can vouch that what you posted earlier is eactly what Rothfield wrote, word for word.
Probably the best they could do would be to build a cantilevered stand at that end then, so it overhangs the pipeline/conduit but keeps the area free at ground level. Still potential for a reasonable amount of seating that way. Also, IIRC, there is also a major power conduit alongside it too. It can't be built over as access is needed to both in case of repairs. Also, for all we know, it may not be designed to be able to support much weight to be placed on top of it.
That’s a lie. Tell him nuffin, Captain!Cmon just admit you buy the Tele we won’t hold it against you

Why not move the new Penrith stadium slightly north at the site?
So the sewer line is not affected and build the stadium over Ransley st, which I gather is closed during games anyway.
Shit decision if it is the way they go.
Location, location, location first.
Then the build. Why does RL have almost all its grounds at least 15-20 mins walk away from train stations? It is a huge deterrent and stay at home motivator for many thousands. Have we not learnt anything from the best run sport in the land or other sports around the world?
Train stations and amenities. Then the build. Otherwise once the hype disappears or the team is travelling average it will be small crowds again. Build in the heart of the action and train station next door and even during hard times and inclement weather during dark cold winters people will still turn up.
Even Parra and the SFS are in ordinary positions really if not a local. Sure there are eateries around, but you need to catch Train, Bus and or Tram or walk 30mins to get there. Hardly something that an out of the area person and his/her kids would be looking forward to be doing on a June-July cold dark night with the possibility of rain or early start games on Friday after work, can't just zip in.
As opposed to catch a train or two but you are delivered straight at the door of the stadium(within 500m) and you are in your seat. This is RL in Sydney, not English Premier League Football or even AFL. We don't travel and we never will.
Sh*t decision.
We don’t do sport infrastructure well in Sydney. Homebush Stadium was trumped as the geographical centre of Sydney. Accept the location chosen is still a dull shit hole twenty years on. A case of planning getting stuck on an ideal. They had a go at moving the SFS closer to Anzac Parade. Now we’re left with a spiral pedestrian bridge that‘s not serving the purpose it was intended for. I keep thinking of the Simpson monorail episode where they built the escalator that goes to nowhere the few times I walk that bridge. I still think of that architect proposal that would see the SFS over the rail lines at central. Too late and the Trust would’ve killed it anyway.Shit decision if it is the way they go.
