Perth and Adelaide are absent from the business end also.

Perth doesn't even get a Round of 16 game. Total shame job for these cities not providing adequate facilities for world class tournaments.
Building stadiums for a once in a 40 year event probably not smart use of tax payer money. Cant speak for the rest of the city but missing out on a womens soccer game isnt causing me any lost sleep.

That’s a new one, very ambitious. I wonder if the Tigers are listening.
Be interesting if this makes for a "divide and conquer" effect on the Tigers - being that it's right between the Tigers inner-west and south-west bases.

Shame the manly development of a similar ilk got squashed by council. Seems councils are not very pro development that help their local club.

you could say its the perfect venue then for the tigers half way between both fanbases?

Canterbury is looking towards a new 45,000 seat stadium in Liverpool as part of a big project. Article was written earlier this year.

It makes sense as a shared venue for Tigers & Bulldogs, much like Roosters & Rabbitohs sharing Allianz. 45k is surprising but it’s only early days and a long way from any of this becoming reality.

And when there is no game on at the venue?

It certainly does make sense as a shared venue for Tigers & Bulldogs, especially if Leichardt can be made into a reasonable community ground for NSW Cup (and no hosting NRL games there).

Questions are whether the Bulldogs would be keen to share it & whether the Tigers are keen to become a one-home ground club.

Need to get McArthur FC in on it too. Piss Campbelltown off completely.
Not sure on the 45K capacity though. It’s an odd figure in terms of exactly where it’ll position it within the Sydney stadium market. A 30-35Kk open air (but with fully covered stands) stadium would be a LOT cheaper and probably fit far more realistically into the plan. You wouldn’t get much change for a billion for 45K with a retractable roof, that’s gonna be seriously expensive to build, like NFL $$.

Of course AFL fans are happy they have their stadium. Good for you.

Remarkable the speed with which AFL fans move to downplay a massive sporting event like the Women’s World Cup.

yeh any city with sense would have built a centralised stadium there not at Moore park. right on the doorstep of china town and darling harbour, train line running past it. but hey its Sydney.
Wtf are you on about now? Stop commenting on things you've got no idea about. So that leaves you with afl, whinging and being a miserable prick.

yawn, Perth and Adelaide has no justification to spend $400mill of tax payers money on a rectangular stadiums at this time. Maybe if the NRl ever gets its sht together we will.

It makes a lot of sense for McArthur FC to be on board - year-round tenancy would be a huge win, as we see at Parramatta & SFS.

I guess it'd be a plus for transport planning too, as you could get it as a major public transport hub with lines/routes converging there.

Rugby League is having it’s biggest ever year, record crowds and the most popular sport on TV.

Brisbane, Sydney and NZ are about to enjoy a huge worldwide event. The Matildas are a cherished national team.

Have fun with your Ozzie rules.

I’m sure they’d be open to sharing for rent $. Whether Bulldogs would offer a favourable deal for Tigers or MacArthur to ditch their current stadiums remains to be seen, but a stadium needs content.

Is there a particular reason the Bulldogs are gunning for that location? Maybe something near the new airport could get more council buy-in, provided it came with a guarantee of transport links. Could also help the case for a rail connection to the new airport precinct too.

Then it would lose money, If it isn't viable it is zero chance

No stadium is open every day of the year. If they can get Tigers on board that’s 20+ games a year so not a bad base. Content to make it viable would certainly be a challenge for them to overcome but that’s for them to do the maths. Like I’ve said I’ll believe it when I see it but it’s good to see some ambition.
