The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Nice to see the negative nellies jointly kyboshing any reason for a new Stadium at Penrith. It’s part of the mentality of some rugby league fans to endlessly argue against the sport and its progress. Just like our little mate Jamberoo who constantly advocates against a fit for purpose stadium in Melbourne. There is always a reason to say no. It’s easy. Thinking expansively is too much for too many here.
Hi P.

Please tell me exactly what size new rectangular stadium Melbourne needs and who would use it?

Thanks.

If I were Penrith, just try and get a new western stand out of it. And that could set up the stadium for the future.

It’s $309 million dollars. They’ll get two new stands out of it and a complete overhaul over the rest.

Panthers fans on here acting like they’ve been offered a new coat of paint and a few new portaloos.

I've heard that Elvis is prepared to come out of hiding, but only if Penrith gets a new stadium. $900m is a bargain.

KFC and Krispy Kreme next door to do his private catering.

Maybe a little too healthy for elder Elvis

If it is going to cost $900m to build a 25k stadium at the paceway, then $300m is about what that would cost!

Its not, thats BS to give the NSW govt an out on booting the paceway people out. Should def be able to get Penrith up to 25k with a new main stand a new corporate stand and two uncovered end stands for $300mill. Shame it wont be a new stadium fit for next 50 years but hey ho, it'll still be a big improvement.

The only way Penrith deserves a stadium is if the public transport infrastructure uses Penrith as a regional hub.

There are as far as I'm aware there are no plans for this.

Twelve scheduled uses for a single team is insane. Tickets will be $80 per adult as well given Bankwest was $65 in 2022.

Concerts in the warmer months would be ridiculous too given Penrith is the hottest place in Sydney.

Someone needs to FOI the business case. It'll be hilarious reading.

Penrith also have a 10 year deal with Bathurst for a game as well so there goes 8.33% of that content for the first few years of the stadium.

Unlike Canberra, Newcastle or even Campbelltown Football & Rugby Union wouldn’t be interested in the slightest in helping. Best NRL could offer would be a test or two, maybe a women’s Origin or All-Stars game.

Penrith should be snatching the 309m with both hands, hopefully that could get them 2 new covered grandstands that are designed to wrap around the end(s) in the future.

Sorry, was having internet problems.
They can’t build on the Southern end due to sewerage main issues. They can’t build on the northern end due to the road.
25k is not much better than the current 22k and would probably mean less seats for the general public like what happened at Commbank.

A pretty good and not unreasonable outcome for Penrith would be the same as McDonald Jones stadium, no? I’ve never been but it looks spot on for a regional club. Is $309m enough to get that done?

Build bigger main stands with small end stands then. The end tiers don’t have to be the same size as the sides, two 13K capacity main stands with a 2-3K capacity uncovered stand at each end should be doable for $309m.

The reason multiple shows on a tour are done at the same venue is that it absorbs the ridiculous cost of setting, tearing down and transporting the stage.

You don't pay that cost to go 50km down the road. It's not Mick and Gazza throwing the JCM 800 and drum kit in the 1995 Hi Ace to play Penrith RSL after the Bridge Hotel the night before.
Ah the bridge hotel

that brings back some memories

what a dump it was / is
