That’s a fair point the rental will be way cheaper

I still think the nrl make more money hosting it at allianz

I hate watching games at shark park it’s an eyesore

Depends what the break even crowd is. Sharks and Penrith Council would prefer the major event stays local so will make it cheap.

Allianz has contracts with things like catering that affects the cost

They will clear $3m at Penrith. Not sure of the corporate numbers for Shark Park

How did you calculate a $3m profit @ Penrith?

Neither Penrith or sharks have good corporate facilities

how do you figure 3 million profit

Shit happens when Brisbane has already got the best rectangular ground in the country. 2.7M on the Gabba seems pretty obscene though
Gabba didn’t need a rebuild for the Olympics

Suncorp has 4 tenants vs 2 for the Gabba

maybe if it’s so good the dolphins could play there to be different from the broncos

That does not make it right.

Also, which other privately owned stadiums (i.e. owned by a private individual or company, and not one owned by a local council) have the NSW Government funded? I'm not aware of any having occurred.
Can you name another privately owned stadium ?

Given 60k optus is a stunning stadium and with all the landscaping, train lines and station and footbridge over the river only cost $1.6bill I wonder what the heck $2.7bill is buying?

I think that 2.7B isn't just for a stadium, there is a lot of other major work going on - a whole precinct including an underground train station. There is also some heritage listed school needs to be relocated.
