Gees, you'd think that the Sharks would be doing better than that - sure they were "flat track bullies" this year, but they weren't at the butt-end of the table all season like the Tigers & Dragons.
They’re encumbered by their sht grounds capacity.

“Wests Tigers is a much loved sporting franchise not a property development company.
Much loved? More like much pitied.

It sounds like the club has FINALLY come to the realization that neither Campbelltown NOR Leichardt is the answer (no matter what renovations/refurbishment they get)... and splitting games is even worse, and they're scrambling to find a way to change tack and get ONE ground to call home.

Gonna be interesting to see whether the Bulldogs or Tigers come out tops in this innerwest-south west corridor tussle.

So the earliest Australia could host a soccer world cup is 2046. Forget about new stadia via soccer then

It says you have to have 7 X 40k plus stadiums already built. That in itself rules out a bid by australia and nz Alone who on,y have 4 stadiums.
Only way would be to include some other countries with decent stadia already built. Given Australian govt paranoia over China in the pacific maybe linking with Indonesian would get govt support?

Maybe time for nrl to get them both around the table again. A shared stadium in Liverpool makes most sense for both of them and is far more likely to get funding to happen.

How do you know they want to borrow 500 million
How much do you think a 45k stadium costs to build? Sharks just sold land to developers for basically same thing and got $60mill.
nsw govt is highly unlikely to fund any of it.

where do you think they are getting the money from?

Nobody said zero. But again I ask you how much do you think a 45km stadium costs? Their land is valued around $130mill. How are they going to cover the gap?
Dunno

but they aren’t the sharks to sell away a development profit of 500 million for 10 million

they could

1. do the development themselves or enter a jv and share the profits

2. They can sell the land except the stadium bit for 100 to 150 million cash to be put towards a stadium

3. they can sell members seats to raise 50 mill

4. They can sell the naming right for 20 years and get the money up front

5 they can share the stadium costs with the nrl

you think they lodged plans for a stadium with no chance of getting it funded

Tigers plan is unlikely and pretty crap anyway if they end up with only a 20k seat stadium. Bulldogs is ambitious with 45k but they own the land so far better chance than the Tigers plan (but probably not 45k).

With any luck the NRL and the 2 clubs could work together to lobby for something in the 30-40k range that both clubs could share.

Nrl already approached the dogs and tigers about investing in a shared stadium in Liverpool

this could be jointly owned between the nrl and dogs

If the Dogs and the NRL invest and own a stadium in Liverpool, then it will be easier for the Tigers to come on board.

If the Dogs own it 100% outright, then it's unlikely for the Tigers to come to Liverpool. In that situation, the Tigers would've lost the south west.

Just looking at maps and realise how fortunate the NRL could potentially be with all the clubs around the airpot.

Potentially have;
- Bulldogs based in Liverpool direct east from airport.
- WT's 5-6 games at Campbelltown, SE from the airport.
- Penrith north from the airport.
- Parra sort of NE of the airport.

Anything west of the airport is national park. A lot of growth in the area's north and south of the airport.

Makes the Tigers decision to base themselves in Concord even more strange

It sounds like if the Eastern Melbourne stadium happens & doesn't bring a new East Melbourne team, then Melbourne City may move some games there.

That would be an interesting split with 3 Melbourne teams each having clearly defined areas & their own stadiums.

Call me biased but with our golden era and being in between the north and south growth areas of outer western sydney, we’re gonna be eating really good in the future. Our numbers at the moment are great but they’re only the tip of the iceberg.
