It might be a good thing if NSW f##ks it up and doesn't do ANZ, then their contract with the NRL would be null and void and if the NRL has any sense about them they'd use it as a opportunity to show everybody not to screw around with them and sell the GF to the highest bidder for the next 25 years.

The NRL has desperately needed to show a lot of people for a long time that they wont just bend over and take it from them, but they haven't had the balls to do it, this might just end up being the time when they have no choice but to stand up and make NSWgov pay for screwing them around and send a warning to everybody else that attempts to do the same from now on.

So even if we don't get ANZ rebuilt we'd still get a win of sorts cause the NRL would be forced to flex their muscles and make the NSWgov pay for f##king them around, and that'd be a very good thing for the sport in this country especially if it lead to them telling a few other people to either tow the line or get f##ked as well.

ANZ was always multi purpose you mong. It wasnt built for Us. It was built for the Olympics.
When they were looking at changing it to be a full rectangular field, when it wasnt owned by the government. The AFL and Cricket threw money at it so it wouldnt.
Now that the government owns it again. Instead of just fixing the stadium to be rectangular, the SCG trust got involved to make sure that the SFS gets rebuilt first, the stadium that doesnt need to be rebuilt AT ALL and at most, put a roof on it which
1. inflates the price of the whole situation.
2. pushes back when building starts
3. makes it so that for a year we have to deal with SCG Origin and grand finals and maybe 2 if the timeline gets f**ked.
The reason why the backlash is so hard and swift, and dont fool yourself into thinking its not because you are stuck in an Anti AFL Anti Labor mindset that even the liberals dont want this because they know it will cost them votes all because the SCG trust merkin had to get his dirty hands involved and bring risk into ANZ getting rebuilt like it needs to.

Labor isnt to blame, ABC and the Bandana f**khead isnt to blame either, its the SCG trust and liberal politics thats put this plan in doubt.

the stadium originally could not be used by AFL because it had a f**king running track around it you imbecile

But it was a multi purpose stadium first. It was not built for us. It was not built for rectangular sports.
They literally had to put slabs of grass OVER the running track for even US to play there. You can even see that in the pic you posted.
When NOT THE GOVERNMENT, but SAG went to reconfigure the stadium. They configured it for all possible codes because they deemed it best for business.
They removed the running track. In removing the running track, they figured out that you could play Cricket and AFL there, which happened to be at the time, The two biggest sports in Australia.
Its always been a multi purpose stadium.
